Hey, Ive been thinkin about getting back into MMOs and have come up with a few options;

a) Tabula Rasa - I played the beta and was addicted, though it was nearing the end and I had to force myself to put it down before everything was delted.

b) Back to LOTRO - it was pretty gd, but it was also easy to put down, which isnt good imo.

c) Back to WoW - though I never got round to enjoying a lot of the original end game content. Levelling is now easier.

d) FFXI - but ONLY if its somewhat improved over the past 2-ish years, it peed me off last time never knowing who to talk to.

e) anything else youd reccomend? (oh, city of heroes was quite gd as well).

World in conflict is awesome. Full Stop. I havent had a lot of experience with CoH myself though, so I cant say much about it.

I also reccoment waiting till next friday and getting Forged Alliance + Supreme Commander (if you havent already got SC).

So far its great, but it still suffers not from bad voice acting, but the disjointed conversations which third person RPGs tend to suffer with (cue Gothic and Two Worlds).

Well, it was released today (at least here in the UK), but has anyone got any idea if weve suffered the same fate?

[QUOTE="delirin"]

The game is basically giuld wars with an "elite" version you have to pay for if you want to form a guild, do pvp, see all areas and equip the good items. personally I'm going to pass.

weirjf

I'd like to say I will miss having someone likeyou in the Hellgate community whining about monthly fees... but I won't.

It doesnt look to me like hes "whining", just saying he personally is going to pass on the fees, just like I am. Id rather put my monthly subs into Tabula Rasa, Im just not into premium content, especially as the regular game is going to be good enough.

What are all these awesome mods? I was about to play through it for the first time vanilla. I was thinking of maybe doing some high-res textures, but that's it. You don't have to spell out every mod, but before I go digging up what 150 mods do, could someone give me a general idea. I don't want some uber-powerful cheater mod. I'm not sure I buy that the levelling system is broken and needs to be more like Morrowind (which did not have a GREAT levelling system IMO). Just curious which mods make it worthwhile.Srinivassa

The thing about the levelling system in oblivion is that its no different from morrowind....BUT the monsters you fight and items you find depend on your level. Meaning that to get uber gear, you needed to be a high level, which took the fun out of adventuring. In morrowind, if you could kill for it/find it, it was yours.

Some mods put this system back in.

Ive been thinking the exact same you know, but, then again, with all the new stuff out, i dont know if its worth me getting an older game just to play through again.

I suppose it may recognise the localised content and only download what it needs, reducing your DL size and time, and I dont see any reason why, seeing as you brought the game legit, it should matter whose files you use.

However, I really cant say for sure what will happen, you'll just have to cut down on DLs for a bit afterwards.

Ive gone for crysis because;

a)CoD4 was an awesome demo, but its still pretty standard stuff

b)I played the UT3 demo, and Im ashamed to say it cos i was so hyped for this game; I didnt like it very much at all.

Well, it was confirmed after Oblivions launch that there WILL be another TES Game, but.....with no other details but that.

My predictions are;

+ They'll go way back in time to another period before Morrowind

+ They'll go forward from Oblivion into one of the surrounding lands, perhaps Hammerfell or one of the other adjoining regions.

+If they have that scaled looting crap, the game will suck.

+If its more like morrowind;darker, more sinister, non-scaled looting (because that sucked the fun out of it)then the game will succeed.

+The graphics will be beyond believeable.

+Yet they'll still manage to keep the specs modest.

oh, and most of what Planeforger wrote. And i did play morrowind first, hence why oblivion disappointed me.
