If you want a gameplay experience, then do them both, if youre just bothered about story, there isnt much need for EP1 as it recaps in the EP2 intro. You might as well play it tho as it all comes in The Orange Box, itd be a waste of a decent experience otherwise (just to warn you, I thought the Citadel bit at the start was fairly boring).
Theyre all awesome games but youre in need of a serious upgrade.
If you havent got a huge budget, there are some decent Nvidia cards out there, Ive got a 7900GTX and can play gears on somewhere near max, but im on XP with DX9.
RAM upgrade is a must, even if its only to 1.5GB.
Consider upgrading the processor as well, especially if it isnt dual core (dual cores are cheap as hell now - Id say quad core is a bit unecessary atm).
I played it about two years ago, for about a day, It has potential, but I just didnt know where to go half the time or who had the quests. Has it improved anywhat through it's expansions over time or updates? A bit more new player friendly?
Hey, Ive just brought a component cable to hook up to my PC in the back of my HD monitor. It is connected via an S-Video attached to a sort of Component Scart Block (with the S-Vid end going into the gfx card). My card is a 7900GTX. The major problem I am having is not with desktop size, but with website font size (this is tiny to me atm) and a hell of a lot of black screen flickers at start up whilst it refreshes (I presume). It also flickers whenever I click on a settings or advanced tab in the display control panel.
I am running at 1080i with a 1900 x something desktop.
If you're really looking forward to a good physics engine, go find the youtube/preview videos of LucasArt's Force Unleashed.
They have actual tech demos of realistic object modeling/breaking and a pretty neat AI system to boot. And yeah, it will be in the final game (or at least it better be since that's what they're hyping).

problem is LA have ditched the PC and i don't like consoles.
Which is 100% a mistake. If LucasArts made anything like that for the PC and made it as good as JK2: JO then they'd be onto a no brainer best seller.
I put EVE in, had 15 minutes with it, and Im usually very patient to let games get going, but damn, that just isnt my taste really, waiting for a ship to fly a zillion km to an asteroid.
I still liked Tabula Rasa though, I might have to go with that in all fairness, and again, LOTRO was beautiful, but, i just didnt find myself playing it.
