I think what many people are saying is; it looks good, but not as good as it should for this gen.

Ok, I brought STALKER a week ago, put it in, and it crashed on the first mission from Wolf, just as I got to his men, failing that, it will crash when I get to the bandits.

i decided to wait for a patch, I put version 1.0001 in yesterday - International as I am in the UK - after seeing the nigh on 60 fixes the patch made, i tried it again, with the same results.

I went back to the store I brought it from and they swapped the disks, I re-installed from the new disk and applied the patch, this time, it crashed even earlier, the disc was in perfect condition. My system specs are also fine to run the game, and I have my latest ATI drivers.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Part of the joke seems to be in the name "Whoah" - as in...."Whoah! Hold it!"....I wondered what blizz would have up their sleeves this year, but after last years "world of starcraft", who would take them seriously on April Fools day?

Ā

EDIT: After examining the evidence, this is obviously a joke.

1) The graphics are insanely dated.

2)WHoA comes in *four* different box covers
(that's TWICE as many as WoW!)

Ā 3)Have you seen the goddamn system specs?! Theyre like 10 years old!Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā

The guy isn't italian in the game. I laughed at you on that part.

I also laugh at you for being lousy at predictions.Ā

I have XP. It ran fine for a few minutes, then I died and once I managed to get back to the same bit, it crashed.

Tried again from my save, bit longer, then crashed, again, still crashed. It just....freezes. I can tolerate slight jumps and things, cos they tend to lay up after a while, but freezing like that is obviously unaccceptable. It needs patching VERY VERY quickly!

Multiplayer is often a big issue, a lot of MP RTSs have a lot of provision for rushers to exploit, luckily Ive found that surpeme commander isn't so, mainly because of the resource management. Im part of the RTS gamers union, so feel free to have a look on our boards, join and ask for advice.

The way I start with SupCom is:

1 mass extractor followed by three generators, then link a factory to the generators, get it producing engineers and then use your ACU to get the nearest mass extractor points up and running. That generally helps get a base up without crashing yoru economy. Mass fabricators are also very useful if you have a lot of them.

Another piece of advice for SupCom: Don't chain large lines of reactors and fabricators and such like, as one big explosion causes a major problem....the lot goes BOOM!

You really have to get some grounding on your opinions mate. Personally i think its one of the best RTS's ive played in a long time (perhaps its cos its the only one ive ever been good at), also, the way you need to start really hinders those who would tech right up and rush in other games.

I did expect perhaps a longer campaign though.

If you want detailed conflict and effects that can be seen upclose, SupCom is awesome, the scale is purely epic. Best RTS I have ever played.

Not sure about CnC, but at least the formula is well grounded.

Oh, btw, the Gamespot hardware guideĀ  to SupCom isnt nearly as bad as it sounds

Yeah, its certainly a mark of originality over GTA and SR, but the biggest shame (and in fact, imo, the only flaw in this marvelous sandbox) is the fact that the story SOLELY revolves around grinding down gang bosses. No intricate plots or backstabbing triads - its go here, kill him/her, get dossier on next target, kill them, dossier again, kill again - It would have been much better if the 21 gang bosses were integrated into a story and the world was much bigger.
