Wow. This is possibly the most honest article I've read on any gaming site in quite some time. And to have it come from one of the 'major sites' is all the more surprising.

The only real survival part of RE, aside from the terrible controls and camera of the old games was the scacity of resources. In the new games, that's still a factor. Everything else like off screen enemies that your character is turned to look straight at but you can't see yourself and bad controls only hurts immersion. I for one am all for the faster, more mobile and nimble movements of the modern RE characters. What they need to focus on is pulling the strings of tension and dread about what's around the next corner. The easiest way to do that while keeping characters that actually move and aim properly is to make the enemies more deadly, and ammo more scarce. As was said, RE is a known quantity, what needs to happen now is an exercise in how to make these nimble, powerful characters vulnerable. And personally I would much rather have a well handling character who dies if the enemy reaches him, than one with enormous amounts of health that moves like a like a brain injury patient whose lost 98% of his motor skills.

Sounds a hell of a lot like rights in general. Not just our rights as a consumer. But whatever, this is what a generation of ill educated, apathetic fools gets us. And by the time they realize they shouldn't have bent over and taken it up the backside, its already too late to fix it.

I find it amusing that so many people are dense enough to not realize that this training software is not meant/going to replace all the other aspects of the training of these agents. What it IS going to happen however is it becoming another component of said training that from what we've read here focuses on problem solving and planning and gives the students the opportunity and ability to watch how their planning plays out and review it.

@sircyrus Of course not, like 90% of the "faithful" anything with big words or meaningful discussion that doesn't 100% spell out love and praise of a magical image of human hubris and vanity scares him. So, it's easy for him and many like him to assume it's an attack on the fiction be believes in. For the remaining 10% or so of the faithful who aren't dumb and dense as a brick wall, make of this and believe what you will. As for the other 90%, well... You're already beyond help anyway. And since the mood takes me, I shall interject my own thoughts. Despite the inevitable down votes from the thumpers. Religion in all forms is fiction; fiction invented by a primitive world that still believed in magic, that the planet was flat and that the sun orbited the earth or plane of the earth. And unfortunately, while 99% of the crap our ancestors believed has been buried religion sadly still hangs on, providing a tool for power and influence; distracting millions from making the most of the short time we have by having them to believe in a magic paradise when they die because death and its permanence is otherwise too scary. Devoting so much time and thought to an obvious fiction in the misguided belief that and eternal heaven awaits. It's shameful. And every second of life wasted on religion instead of making the best of our short time in existence is just that, a waste. I don't hate the religious, but I do pity them immensely. "Without God, Life is everything and all we have."

I've no issues with the use of such recognized fiction in game. I can't imagine why anyone would. oO We've used the ancient religious fictions in games in the past for ages, nothing wrong with using the modern ones.

@Darnasian I believe what he means by the console cycle being close to it's end, is that this particular hardware generation is close to it's end, not console gaming as a whole. And that's simply the truth. We're almost seven years into this generation, and the hardware is showing it's age, particularly in the face of newer PCs. Likely, next year we'll be seeing the first looks at the next gen consoles, and spec wise I expect them to be similar to the PC powerhouses that will be available at the same, just as the current consoles where when they came out.
