@packers91 I gave GW it's shot for six months, the problem is the games story is as uninteresting and predictable as every other cookie cutter D&D clone universe out there. You talk about the pric, and I'll tell you that there's a reason GW doesn't have any fee associated with it, because if it did no one would pay to play such a dull and uninvolved game. I didn't get together 24 of my friends to raid Sunwell Plateau for a pair of pants, we went there for the final chapter of a story we'd been experiencing since the launch of BC, the same holds true for Ulduar, Icecrown, The Eye of Eternity and others. Unlike GW with it's one night stand stories, stale aesthetic, and fantasy by numbers narrative; Unlike GW, WoW actually has a cohesive and progressive narrative. As for the issue of price, like I said, if a game as poorly conceived as Guild Wars had monthly fees no one would play it. And between you and me, I'll spend the $8 a month a pay for WoW to get a game that's actually enjoyable, instead of settling halfass just because it's cheaper. I gave Guild Wars a shot during the beta, for a couple months after launch; another shot when Nightfall hit, and another for a couple months earlier this year; and it's always been the same dull uninspired crap. Guild Wars is a case of you get what you pay for, and really, it ain't alot, and it ain't very good. So there's your good DAY. XD

@packers91 And guild wars is different how? XD Admittedly the preCata low level questing experience sucked, the Meat and Bones of WoW has always been in the endgame PvP and raiding. However the Shattering has made all the low level quests quite fun, and the story lines quite interesting. Then again I suppose if you come from a game like Guild Wars (which has no real story or cohesion) into something like WoW, I suppose the idea of stopping to see just what the quest givers have to say instead of just jamming the quest accept button before the text even appears must be quite alien and intimidating.

@packers91 I don't think WoW has ever "tried to catch up with guild wars" in any way. Granted yes it's not as pretty from a technical stand point, but I would say it's much funner to play and actually possessed of consistent art direction and interesting stories. Guild Wars has always felt like D&D Mythology Lite Edition.

Why do people go on about how terrible WoW is because it consumed their lives? Do people really have so little control over themselves that they can't put a game down when they should? I've been playing the game for 2 years now, have several 80s and raid every a week, but even then WoW hasn't exactly changed my life all that much. The only difference in my day to day life since I started playing it is now the 2 or so hours I used to spend watching TV before bed are now spent playing WoW instead. It's a fun game but it's never like, consumed my life or anything like so many people seem to go on that it will. As for the Shattering and the new content, it's awesome stuff. Zones look much better and the quest flow and stories are much, much, much better than they used to be.
