So a lot of them are taking pictures with a camera and then putting a Photoshop filter on them right? Ok I will stop :PJigglyWiggly_

Well, I'm not sure which photographers you are referring to but none of the ones I posted use photoshop filters. I know that Gursky occasionally uses photoshop to touch-up images but not excessively. Todd Hido achieves that effect by simply using really long exposure times and I'm pretty sure none of the other artists use photoshop. I'm not quite sure where you're coming from.

I used to really be into a lot of bands that get labelled as "post-rock" like Dirty Three, Russian Circles, Mono, GY!BE etc. The only one I ever really listen to now is a Silver Mt. Zion who are, IMO, one of the best bands around at the minute. It's sad that some people still view them as a Godspeed You! Black Emperor side project.

Gregory Crewdson

William Eggleston

Todd Hido

Engrish_Major

Cool, thanks! I just googled them. Some very surreal stuff there as well! The Gregory Crewdson scenes are quite intriguing...

No problem. Yeah Gregory Crewdson is one of my absolute favourites. I love the way his photos all look like stills from Blue Velvet :P

Another thing, you might notice this when you read it...

... but the whole novel is founded on a contradiction; you've got this angsty, cynical sonova***** of a main protagonist, who always talks about how he's sick of adults, and all their bull, yet he spends practically the whole of the novel socialising with these people he supossedly can't stand. Y'know, you'd think he's just ignore all these people, but no, he's starts asking random taxi drivers to have cocktails with him, and such. It flat out does not make sense.

You're right, Holden is hypocritical. He's not without his flaws. But neither is the reader. That's what makes him such a relatable character.

The book makes perfect sense. Holden feigns a sense of "superiority" to justify his alientaion from those people. Alienation/isolation is really just a form of self-protection for Holden. However Holden is constantly trying to find someone to talk to and confide in throughout the book. Conflict between Holden's need for isolation and his need for companionship (i.e. what causes him to meet up with Sally and then insult her) is a huge theme in the book. It's not exactly a plot hole or anything :P

The Godfather is an excellent film, although Part II is my favourite. I think you weren't really paying attention because most of your questions are answered directly in the film.
