Because, it's restrictive, samey, uninspired and sterile. The attitudes of the fans can be incredibly annoying. I'd much rather listen to well-crafted songs with lyrics that I can connect with.
I especially disagree on your last point. Particularly in Russia you'll find a number of highly respected directors whose films move at a snail's pace. You don't like it, but I relish it when they do it well, as I feel Kubrick did on 2001.

I think 2001 is one of those films that you have to be in the right frame of mind to watch. In my opinion, 2001 is Kubrick's Magnum Opus.
I can only concentrate if it's instrumental. I'll sometimes listen stuff like Brian Eno, Boards of Canada and Autechre if I'm reading... although I'll generally not listen to music while reading.
Hell no for Shawshank. But Scarface, I can understand that.
I think Shawshank is overrated becuase a lot of people claim that it's the greatest film ever. I like it. It's a great story. But it's not the best film ever.
I guess I quite like pop-punk, but I don't like MCR and Fallout Boy.

I don't understand what you're saying. That's all it originally was - a genre of music. Whenever it started to die out, people started to refer to bands like MCR, Fallout Boy, Bullet for my Valentine and the fashion that went with it as "emo".
