If you don't like alcohol, it's because your being controlled, and you don't even know it.

TristanShand

oh dear. The media "controls" people by telling them that it's OK to drink alcohol but all those illegal (untaxed) drugs, like marijuana, are terrible.

If I had to pick one band to listen to exclusively it would probably be The Beatles. Or The Smiths...

or maybe The Velvet Underground. :P

I love the original trilogy. Not a fan of the other three. I really dislike anime.

You like Moore, so you could try V for Vendetta. Persepolis is supposed to be kind of in the same vein as Maus. If you'd like some comedy then I'd recommend Scott Pilgrim. Pretty darn funny, with some great video game references. The Arrival by Shaun Tan also looks interesting.Archon_basic

Thanks a lot. I'll look into those.

So, I've recently become interested in graphic novels and I'm looking for some suggested reading. Some comics that I've enjoyed are:

Watchmen

The Dark Knight Returns

The Killing Joke

American Splendor

Ghost World

Maus

So, if you can recommend me something similar, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

ElbowFilm-Guy

I think Elbow get the attention they deserve.

The most overrated band is Big Star, IMO.

EDIT: oops, I meant underrated.

I doubt that they will carry through with this but it's an awful idea regardless. People in power won't really be able to distinguish between "emos", goths, metalheads or basically any teenager with long black hair and a "different" style of dress. Most of the people in this thread who support this would likely be denied access to government-run buildings as well, so think before you pass judgement.

I'm not a fan of either "culture" but people should be allowed to dress how they want and listen to whatever music they want. Banning emo/goth music is not going to stop people from killing themselves. It's avoiding the real problems.

Batman was a great film... Ironman was an average super hero movie.

I went into it quite skeptical and was blown away. It was a fantastic love story, the visuals were astounding, there were many beautiful scenes and it had a surprising amount of depth for an animated film. It's one of the best films I've seen in years.

I preferred it to the Dark Knight - but both were great films.
