And here I was, hoping this thread would be about Cap'n Jazz.Brmarlin

Me too! We all know Analphabetapolothology is the greatest emo album ever made. Diary by SDRE is a close second though.

Anyway, Say Anything are okay. They're pretty catchy. However, I don't think they're an emo band.

So apparently Jimmy Page is playing "Whole Lotta Love" with Leona Lewis on vocals at the Olympics closing ceremony (google if you don't believe me). Now I realize many of you consider Jimmy Page overrated, but it is practically a fact that he is one of the most influential guitarists of all time. Leona Lewis, on the other hand, was the winner of X Factor(basically a European American idol). It makes me pretty angry to see one of my first guitar idols selling himself out like this, especially after hearing Leona Lewis' mediocre hit single "Bleeding Love" on Youtube. What are your thoughts on this?topraman517

Uhmm, not really. He was definitely infuential (layering guitar lines, the whole "lead guitarist" mentality...) but I wouldn't call him one of the most influential guitarists of all time.

Anyway, on topic, it doesn't really surpirse me.

Jimi Hendrix is the most important figure in the history of rock guitar. Technically speaking, there have been "better" guitarists than Hendrix but that's not where his importance lies. He played from his heart and was extremely innovative - breaking more ground than anyone else and expanding the vocabularly of the instrument more than anyone else has.

I personally think his films are amazing. Manhattan is one of my favourite films ever. He was a brilliant stand-up comic as well.

It's good. I found it very overrated, but I still enjoyed it.
