Old Music

New Music

works both ways, see?

People only remember the good music and forget the crap. The majority of mainstream music sucks today, but if you dig a little deeper you're bound to find something you like.

Well i think both of those songs are terrible.
I seriously dislike most new music, it's just not good.
Even if i like some new music a little bit, i still think it's not that great at all.

Seriously? You don't like the Fleet Foxes song?! Since you seem to think that most new music is "just not good", perhaps you could pin down what's wrong with it.

I love lots of old music, I just happen to think that there is as much good music now as there was decades ago.

Out of curiosity, what bands do you listen to?

Mel Brooks

or is he a producer?

If so, then I say the guy who did Djarling Limited, Royal Tenenbaums, and Rushmoore is the best.

mrbojangles25

Wes Anderson ftw.

and Mel Brooks is also great.

Pixies. At least they knew when to stop. Sonic Youth should've been killed off long ago, like before Kim Gordon turned fifty.Greatgone12

...but Kim Deal is still recording with the Breeders.:P They had a new album out this year. Plus, Sonic Youth's recent stuff is still great - Murray Street and Sonic Nurse are two of their best records to date.

Emo = emotional. So this means everyone is emo every once in awhile. Every time I tell this to my friends they answer me that emo is wearing tight clothes, having strange haircuts, and cutting your arms. My chemical romance is considered emo by thousands but their recent music dosen't talk about suicide, being emotional, and wanting to take revenge in a girl. But they are emo because they use dark clothes and their fans use dark clothes and weird haircuts. I've heard really sad and emotional songs about suicide, losing girls, and being sad but they aren't considered emo by almost everyone. Is it because they do not use few power chords with lot's of distortion and screams? I hope this emo fashion ends soon. What are your feelings about this topic?

EDIT : I have some skinny jeans. Every time I wear them I am called emo. I am not emotional... but for a strange reason I am emo because of my clothing. This is stupid.

MrEnvelope

Emo stands for emotional hardcore. It was shortened to emo-core and then just emo. It's a genre of music.

[QUOTE="Brmarlin"]And here I was, hoping this thread would be about Cap'n Jazz.Lockedge

Me too! We all know Analphabetapolothology is the greatest emo album ever made. Diary by SDRE is a close second though.

Anyway, Say Anything are okay. They're pretty catchy. However, I don't think they're an emo band.

Oh mang, I have to say 'How It Feels To Be Something On' is a step or two better than Diary.

Rainer Maria can be added to the list too.

Really? I love How It Feels To Be something On but I don't think it comes close to Diary. And Rainer Maria are great. I really like Look Now Look Again.

hmm... I can't possibly decide. Sonic Youth have so much great material including one of the greatest albums ever (Daydream Nation). Pixies have two of the greatest albums ever made (Doolittle and Surfer Rosa) but the rest of their stuff is hit and miss for me.

Someone told me Elliot Smith is emo, which I disagree with. He was a depressed folk-song writer that wrote the soundtrack to Good Will Hunting, had several albums and eventually committed suicide. Still, regardless of whether he's emo or not, I'd rank his self-titled album as the best Emo album ever made, though I hate most emo. Here's a live version of the song from said album: Needle in the Hay. I saw this tour. It was great.

You got to see Elliott!? That's awesome.

I don't think he's Emo though. I'd consider him Indie. Either way, he's great.
