Instead of striving to be a "true" Diablo experience, it should just be one by default. Make it retail priced, with no micro-transactions, no pay-to-win BS, no DLC, just everything needed out of the gate on release day. Unfortunately, that won't happen. Not with the state of the industry today. Gotta appease the shareholders and executives, player satisfaction be damned, as long as their profits keep going up, that's all that matters.
The only ones who really benefit from crap like this are executives and shareholders.
But please, Ubisoft. Keep digging. Make that hole nice and deep, so we can bury you in it when you and other similarly minded companies are dead and gone.
Since they hired someone who worked at both EA and Zynga, it's most likely the "games" they're referring to will be the free-to-play type, and will be loaded with micro-transactions, which will easily recoup the cost of production/licensing. Sad, but most likely true.
In other news (here on GameSpot), the Simpsons character of Carl (who is black, for those not aware) has been recast with a black voice actor. Meanwhile, a character that has always been portrayed as white, or at least light-skinned, is being changed to black so that a black actress can play her on screen.
So, just so we all understand, black characters must be played by a black actor/actress, but white characters can be played by an actor/actress of any color.
If a black character played by a white actor is called white-washing (and is bad), then shouldn't the opposite be true? You know, for sake of equality.
This right here is a prime example of why the price of games does NOT need to go up, and any full price game that includes micro-transactions and currency packs should either cost less, or just go free-to-play.
