I am looking to get 2 6870s for crossfire. I am looking around and i noticed xfx offers a 2gb model for about $20-$30 more than the cheapest 6870. Is it worth it to get the 2Gb model vs the 1 gb models? I have a single 23" monitor. I am looking for the best frame rates and i want the video cards to last the ages. Thanks!

hey what single card would be equivalent to a pair of 6870s in crosfire? Would a 6990 or 590 be better than a pair of 6870s?

Thanks

i want to upgrade my gpu but here is my prob. I already have a 5770 and i want to know if i just add another 5770 if that will be worth it. Or should i just buy a 6850? i cant go any higher in price than that. Also, my 5770 is like 1 1/2 years old but it has been well taken care of. It has been in a well vented case with plenty of fans to keep it cool. Should i be worried about it going out soon? thanks

Wow.. I didnt think they went that high. lol Ok, well what about something a little more modest? like within the three digit price range?

You need to give us a proper budget.

There's the 590 and 6990 for around $750, but I definitely wouldn't recommend either of those.

The GTX 580 for around $480, but I wouldn't really recommend it, either. EDIT: I just checked the current prices of the 580 and 6950, with the current pricing, the 580 is a much more reasonable card.

Then, there's the 6970 and 570, both around $310-330.These are the most expensive cards I would usually recommend.

Well its cause i have a 5770 and from what i hearit isa good efficient card. but I did notice especualy in napoleon total war that it was not what i was looking for. i was pushing it and at times it got slow. Ya, i want it as cheap as poss but i bought my 5770 for like 160 or whatever so i know i have to put out some cash for one. the reason im hoping for one is for heat issues. i know the 580 and i think even the 6870 can play napoleon total war on high to ultra settings but im looking for effiecency too. I guess what im trying to say is can i go to a 6850 or 6830 and will that wattage diff even be noticable?

Radeon 6990 if you can find one, otherwise I would get a GTX 580 or Radeon 6970.(leaning more to the 580 because its faster)

So basicly you guys are saying just go with the most powerfull gpu? that the wattage will not be noticed if i get a slightly slower gpu?

I want ppls oppionions reguarding the best gpu reguarding performance and power cunsumption. IF price was not an option what would bethe best single card I could get to play say napoleon total war or gta IV that would give me the best performance without a ton of watts being used. Or are they all pretty much the same when you get up there? Monitor would be a 23-24" lcd. no 2nd monitor. I am saying this because im thinking ahead for when i live on my own i dont want the electricity bill higher than it already will be. Thanks

Hey is it possible to go quad sli with the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX AM3+ mobo and xfx's new XFX HD-577X-Z5F3 Radeon HD 5770 single slot? If so what advantage would you gain with that vs a single say 5970?

i am looking for 3 120 mmfans that i can plug into my mobo and control the speed at witch they spin. I do not want a fan controller. I want to plug them into my mobo and control the fan speed through the bios. But i am having the darnest luck finding the name of this connector. I belive the 3 pin is without the pwr function but a 4 pin is a molex to my understanding. I want it to be 4 pins that connect directly into the mobo. What is it called?
