[QUOTE="sSubZerOo"][QUOTE="Verge_6"] Sorry, you said nothing of 'In my opinion, the story was bad'. And once again, pointing your nose in the air and scoffing at everyone else because you read a book? SpiritOfFire117

What exactly is unique about the story and main character? Its about a one man army taking on uncountable amounts of aliens to save the world.. The aliens are on a religious crusade which isn't unique what so ever, Warhammer 40k did this over a decade before.. And they had games for those.. The main character is also the definition of generic.. No real dialogue that shows him as a real character, instead his voice is gruff stereotypical war vet.. With the emotional depth of a table spoon.. Furthermore his armor is one of the most uninspired I have seen in a long time.. It looks like he is wearing motocross gear.. This isn't to say that its to say its a bad game, but even amazing shooters like Half-life 2 I wouldn't honeslty say has a amazing stories like the halo fanboys claim Halo does..

He is the last of a bread of super soldiers that were kidnapped at age 6, trained in the style of the ancient Spartans, hence what they are called, and underwent genetic augmentation half of which didn't survive or were crippled. He wasn't always a "one man army". There were usually more in a group. However, that changed after the fall of the UNSC fortress world of Reach, hence the title of the new game. Furthermore, there are other MJOLNIR variants besides the standard Mark VI "motocross" design. But you knew this right...er...right? :|

In before GamerForca says "Ender's Game did it so that sucks". Granted, it's really only "kids taken to train" that's similar. And no, I don't mean to say the differences are between kidnapped and asked to come... it's basically compeltely different.

[QUOTE="Verge_6"][QUOTE="sSubZerOo"] I have already pointed out that Warhammer 40k did this before hand.. Halo is a good game, but for story not so much.. sSubZerOo
And I already pointed out that everything has been inspired by, or has inspired, other things that bear similar traits to their own. Continue.

Yet the main protagonist is one of the most generic out there? And doesn't have a ounce of personality.. All while playing Rambo in motocross gear mowing down hundreds of thousands of aliens usually by him self, or if some one else.. They are all cannon fodder..

The main character in Halo is Medicant Bias.....

Technically, I'm saying both of those last statements. I don't like the story, I don't like the story of any FPS. I play them for other reasons. I don't like Halo. But some of you apparently think that's impossible.GamerForca

What we have the issue with is your comparison. You said you don't like the story because a BOOK did it better. And thats ridiculous.

Instead of avoiding what we're actually pointing out, you could try to stay on the subject :|

Go play Deus Ex or Perfect Dark. Games with an underlying conspiracy and great plot twists. Much more powerful stories than Halo. There you go.

Lol. I quit.

[QUOTE="Verge_6"][QUOTE="GamerForca"] No, you said, and I quote; [QUOTE="Gamerforca"] Because people like the generic storyline and the repetitive gameplay. sSubZerOo

But you didn't even address the halo storyline....lol. And I think people are forgetting, it's not individual plot points, etc. that makes a story, it's how all of them are put together. Yes, I could find a plot point from any story ever in another story. However, it's the world that they create which is what I value. Same goes for any movie, game, book, anything.

^ No one said that....you're said something along the lines that people like halo because they apparently like repetitive gameplay and mediocre story, and they you went on to claim you have superior tastes to others. You're acting like a total elitist in the worse way, then you fall back on a "why can't you accept I don't like Halo approach" when that is in no way what others were doing. Georgia sucks. Why can't you just accept I like Texas Tech better? You are so ignorant. Get it?

[QUOTE="SpiritOfFire117"][QUOTE="GamerForca"] I guess that means I just have higher standards than most of you. Oh well.GamerForca

Then what are you doing on a game site? Shouldn't this be "beneath you" or something.

Don't enter an argument when you've only read my last statement. I'm saying that Halo's storyline isn't a reason for me to like the series. The story isn't the only part of the game. Is it really that hard for Halo fanboys to comprehend that some people just don't like the series? Really?

Are you really this blindsided? You said "I guess that means I just have higher standards than most of you. Oh well.". That implies that the halo story is bad. Therefore, you are not saying "it doesn't appeal to me" but that "you are inferior in your tastes". God... All the games you like suck! Convince me otherwise. *arguement, point, etc.* You're wrong. Such a fanboy. I can't believe halo fanboys are so negligent of other people's tastes. Really? This is how you've been.

The do your research before making a thread like this.SpiritOfFire117

Then* Okay story aside its still very linear and it brings nothing new in gameplay. (idk if it started the dual weilding thing but if it did That was a great acheivement)

I answered the issue of the gameplay's originality just previously. No, not a single feature in Halo was newly introduced. Not by itself. But it's important to note that what Halo did was take those seperate elements from previous shooters, and uniquely combine them into a seamless package. This is definitely a key ingredient (but still not the only one) to its success.

Technically yes. Boarding comes to mind. Don't you dare compare it to GTA's carjacking....

No, it just means you're completely oblivious as to what appropriate medium comparisons are. Just because you read a book doesn't mean you or your tastes/standards are superior, so I'd suggest you get off of the high horse.

Sorry, but it means that I've gone through so many storylines that I have a different feel for what is generic and what isn't. Using Halo's storyline as an argument to why it's a good game won't move me in the least. Find another point.

You're just saying "nu-uh" and using that as an arguement/rebuttal. You can't be serious here. By your logic anything can be called generic by how you see fit. Guess what... I read novels, I watch movies, and I play games. I experience tons of stories.

[QUOTE="GamerX2311"]Just give a summary of what Halo 1-3 is about. Remember- this is mainly for cows. Granted, anyone who hasn't played it would be great to answer. In reality sheep are most likely in the same position, but cows are always on the attack it seems- and they make up a majority here. And remember, just Halo 1-3, not ODST nor Wars, not the books. Give a summary having at least a tad of depth, meaning 3-5 sentences, not a phrase. If you have played the game, don't answer. Do not use google. AdjacentLives

You play as a super soldier known as a Spartan. Your real name is John-117, but you go by the title of Master Chief. You're job in all 3 games is to repel the Covenant while making you're way to seperate Halo Rings. The Halo Rings were built to repel the flood, a parasitic sentient race that basically wants to infect everything and everyone. A female A.I program, known as Cortana, is you're only companion in all three games besides the Arbiter, and alien outcast who aids you in Halo 2 and 3.

That's the basic outline. But there is far more depth and information I can continue on.

How are Cortona and the Arbiter your only companions? But continue please.

[QUOTE="GamerX2311"][QUOTE="mD-"] Adobe pretty much killed this kind of response on the first page, sorry.mD-
No he didn't, sorry. I've read too many real stories to find Halo original. Ignorance form a religious standpoint endangering the galaxy? Yeah, read The Malazan Book of the Fallen. Great fantasy series with a similar main plot, except far deeper than Halo. FPS don't have original stories, so the least they can do is have an outstanding atmosphere like Half-Life (not like Halo).

You just compared a game to a book. Well done.

Wow...I actually read some of those books. They are nothing like Halo. Nothing at all. lol. EPIC FAIL
