5670 is the fastest reference card performance you'll find without connecting a dedicated power cable. DirectX 11 isn't much of an issue here. From what we've seen so far in DiRT 2 results, the performance hit is too large to bear for the new Radeon HD 5670. If you need performance you should go for 4770 (clearly superior). Radeon HD 5670 is not a bad card, it's a respectable mainstream offering. It just costs too much.

As I said this disc only works if you already have Windows 7 Starter or Home Premium . No other O/S will work with that. And NO you cannot do a clean install.

This a PCMCIA card. These cards are very sensitive, so if you plug them and unplug them with the laptop working then the card will be damaged. These cards also have LED lights on them. If they are dead, the card is probably dead too. Unfortunately if the card is not recognized from your device manager it is probably damaged or your laptop has a faulty PCMCIA connector. You can verify this only if you try this card on another laptop and see if the LEDs are working.

Quiet case means : a) Quiet PSU Fan b) Quiet CPU Fan c) Quiet Case Fans.... or even d) No fans. The more fans you add in your case the more noise you add, that's a fact. If you are looking for a complete solution (but it will cost you more than 60 pounds) is the Arctic Cooling Series. These cases already contain quiet PSU's and enhanced with rubber HDD slots, in order to get as less noise as possible. My personal opinio is that all this is a waste of money. Try to get a good PSU with a quiet fan, clean your CPU fan regulary (you can also get a Thermalright or a Thermaltake fan-less CPU Cooler) and try not adding fans inside the case, if possible remove them all. Unless of course, temperature is very high inside the case.

I am assuming that it is USB connected and not PCMCIA. Uninstall all the software and drivers you previously installed. Restart and try installing the drivers and software first and then plugging your device in. Try a different USB slot if possible. Take a look at the Device Manager in Control Panel and see if you have any Network Devices detected there. If you have a exclamation mark then you just need the drivers to be installed correctly. If you do not see anything and the device is plugged in, you probably have a faulty card. Make some tests and give us a feedback on that.

This DVD you have contains Windows Anytime Upgrade. It is very similar with the "Backup Discs" I was refering to. That means that previously you must have installed Windows 7 Starter or Home Premium 32Bit in order to use this upgrade to 64bit Windows 7 Professional. Unfortunately, that also means that you cannot do a fresh install...

You can use a freeware program to record what you hear from your speakers. Try Free Hi-Q Recorder version 1.9. Just Google it.

What do you mean "Windows 7 backup disc"? That sounds like the discs provided from the laptop manufacturers. If it is so, then you cannot use it for a Windows 7 fresh install. This is a pre-installed CD/DVD that contains a Windows version intended to be used only for a specific computer model.
