Who was pretending that child abuse was funny? I am sure it wasn't me.

Razor-Lazor

You are such a pathetic excuse for a human being. You're so insecure about your own position that you'd change your sentence from

"I had 18 swats in a week at school with a wooden paddle and I had no lasting damage and I turned out fine :lol: I was amused."

TO

"I had 18 swats in a week at school with a wooden paddle and I had no lasting damage and I turned out fine :lol: I was amused that he was banned."

Honestly, this only validates my position. How do you live with yourself?

I think he changed what he said because it wasn't 100% clear. Relax, bud.

Are you serious? You can't be. 14 minutes after my reply to him he realized that his reply wasn't "clear enough". And thus changed it to make my entire point about him being amused moot. No "bud", he changed his reply because he realized his original point about his 18 spankings with a paddle being amusing was stupid, and that he really doesn't have a clue what he's talking about. He's simply trying to discredit me by changing his previous statement.

I appologize if I'm beating a dead horse here, but I find it amusing that you treat your "18 swats with a wooden paddle" like it's the worse thing in the world. I'm happy that most of you have grown up without any sort of abuse yourselves, I really am. But I would advise you not to speak about child abuse unless you've been abused yourself. A few spankings on the butt isn't child abuse. A few belt buckles across the face is child abuse. Don't pretend (like this guy) that child abuse is "amusing".

[QUOTE="Legendaryscmt"]

[QUOTE="mutantleaguex"] if your child is running around the store and he/she won't listen to you, then it's a communication problem between you and your child. if anything, there is too much hitting and less verbal talk. and anyway, it's not like you go into a store expecting a kid to sit still. kids aren't meant to sit still, and you should know the precations of going into a store with them firstLegendaryscmt

So then lets say you have talks with your child and that doesn't work?

If you can't control your child without beating them, you are a failure as a parent/guardian. A child will misbehave, it's natural. They don't understand what they're doing wrong. They don't understand why running around the store yelling is a bad thing, you may not know what to do in that type of situation, but hitting them is definitely not the answer. Do you hit your children in the middle of the store?

Yes, I would. If my child is out of control, I'll show them that everytime it happens, they will be disciplined. But apparently, because I gave my child a spanking, along with many other parents, we're all failures according to you.

Woah. I'm not talking about a spanking, I'm talking about literally hitting your child. A few spankings on the bottom is nothing, (to me at least) since it doesn't physically harm the child. Maybe I misinterpreted what you guys were talking about, but I recall something about beating kids with rulers and canes. Are you not talking about that? Maybe you have never actually been beaten as a child, but I have, and it's nothing like being spanked on the butt. Like I said, If your only resort is to beat a child, you are a failure as a human parent, plain and simple.

I have to agree whith mutantleaguex. There's a difference between discipline and punishment, you don't beat a child for misbehaving, not under any circumstance. Why? Because it doesn't work, it only breeds anger and hatred within that child. The child may behave for the time being, but not because they understand what they've done wrong, but because they're scared. Scaring a child into behaviour is a sign of weakness on the adults part.

I play games to have fun, which falls under the category of gameplay. If a game is fun to play, but doesn't have a great story, I can overlook it. If a game is boring, but has an interesting story, I might keep playing to see how the story ends, but I probably won't like the game overall. If a game has great gameplay and a great story, then all the better. If I have to choose between gameplay and story, then I'd definitely choose gameplay. I can always read a book, or watch a good movie if I want a good story. I don't think games will ever overturn a good book in terms of story because, in the end, a book is all about the story nothing else really matters.

My dad and his brother used to get whipped with a wooden paddle. If you did something bad, they'd take you into a special room, pull your pants down, and beat the hell out of you. It sounds funny now, but imagine how humiliating that would be. If a teacher did that now, they'd be arrested and sent to prison.
