@groowagon: I guess people have blamed COD & Battlefield, which despite being good games don't have a lot of differences with each iteration/sequel. People need variety, so more Doom or Quake or CS or or Titanfall or Medal of Honor (if EA revives anyways) or w/e you want to play is always good. So in that aspect, more DOOM is always good. If you want innovation don't look at the big studios (which tend to play it safe), check at the small studios because those will take the risk. For example CDProject RED was not well known when they made Witcher 1.

@biggamerdude: every tool helps. The problem is when you give to a specific site or tool immense power when you shouldnt. Always check reviews from multiple sources even if you think a particular site is better.

@cyril_ryser: Well i would say don't discard the old. Because the old games had good gameplay foremost, then all else followed. Somestimes simplistic but rewarding gameplay is all that matters. I am speaking about old-school games, not just DOOM.

Gameplay is timeless.

@-Syn-: I think after some fan complaints, they changed original party level to 7.

That said if you import your character from BG1, obviously will be at the level you have him. At least you can change the difficult to many levels (even mid-fight). See example below:

@ember_to_flame: you need to have the Baldur's Gate 1 :enhanced edition.

It bridges the story between BG1 and BG2. Game time is estimated around 25-30 hours.

Mostly linear plot like Baldur's Gate: Throne of Bhaal, but with enough sidetrek and varied quests. The quests are tied loosely with the main story. The main story is ok, although the villain's and army's motivations could be explained a lot better (especially early in the game). Villain could be described more as an antagonist who doesn't understand the far-reaching implications of own actions. Story connection between BG2 could be implemented a bit better (that is a minor concern). Some characters have changed in ther attitude (especially in comparison to their personalities on BG1 and BG2) and that is not good. Restrictive party (not enough options) means that some players will get somewhat frustrated. Even though i dont like to rate games, if BG2 was 10/10, Throne of Bhaal was 9/10 and BG1 was 8/10 and Icewind Dale 8/10 i would rate Siege of Dragonspear 7/10.

Despite its shortcomings, it is a good game and has the heart of the original Baldur's Gate games.

PS: I didnt touch the Minsc line and the trany paladin in my argument, but if people must know, there was a big disappointment from fans of all kinds in the forums (even from transsexuals). The character & Minsc's line were not well implemented and because even the true fans didnt like it (also a flame war exists between SWJs and GGs), as a result beamdog removed Minsc's line & will rework paladin's dialogue.

This a mistake. A runner's roll is a CORE skill. without it, you cant do anything. It is literall one of the first skills learned in parkour.

The correct approach should have a Training Area (like Lara Croft's Mansion, Deus Ex Agent Training Facility and so on) where you would practice the CORE skills. Then you could unlock the advanced skills.

The current approach screams of locking skills to artificially lengthen the game's open world (since there are a lot of collectibles)
