Its no secret that both Microsoft & Sony are pushing for digital game sales.
Problem is that Microsoft has gone really aggressive with it, while Sony is more passive.
Microsoft's aggressiveness with no report of the benefits will hurt them in the end.Eidos
Digital games cant be sold, traded etc.
BUT unless digital games cost for ONLY 50% of the physical copy, why should one buy them?
I miss the old days when a physical copy had maps, booklets, small guides, posters, etc.
Really the physical manual of a game costs 0.30 $ (really)
We also see it on Steam, where some companies put brand new digital copies at 60 $.
I will remind you that Steam has already pushed down the prices a lot, yet still some major devs resist.
Major devs & companies will always try and push, but we as consumers have to resist.
Support the companies that actually sell digital games at a reasonable cost.
Bad companies example:
1) Capcom on SF4 3 DLC each 10-15 dollars making cost of the game 60+10+10+10 = too much
2) Most major devs
Good Companies example:
1) CDProjectRed with witcher 1 and witcher 2 = 2 $ and 7 $ on steam sale
on gog you gain (20 $ now, half on gog sale) you gain (oh its too much to count, i will just post the link)
http://www.gog.com/gamecard/the_witcher_2
2) Namco with Tekken Tag Tournament 2 = after witnessing the DLC-cash grab of Capcom in the Street Fighter X Tekken, Namco did no DLC. The champs released for Tekken Tag Tournament 2, were all free, just they would be available later for all. only the preorders would get them first.
3)Eidos Montreal & Square Enix with Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
really its a 2011 game. Only 1,50 dollar on Steam?????????????? thats the best bargain i have ever seen.
Gamespot gave it a 8.5 score, which qualifies as great across all platforms (PC, XBox360, PS3)
Furthermore they applauded Lara's character development.
Story believably builds Lara up from unsure academic to confident adventurer
"It's empowering to witness Lara's journey from the understandably fearful individual she is when she first arrives on the island to the justifiably confident survivor she becomes."
@Ayebang @Geogyf you just answered yourself why people may favour PS 4.
"XB 1 is the best console as a whole as it is more than a game console but entertainment media device, no need DVD, expensive smart TV any more."
People who dont want "Entertainment Media Device" wont even buy Xbox One.
Who wants Twitch TV streaming? The Minority.
Who wants Skype Crossover? The Minority.
Who wants Cable TV & Xbox? The Minority.
You realize that these features are only for a very few countries???
Almost 1/3 of Europe, most South America, Asia, Japan, Middle East, Africa (those who can afford it anyway) CANT use the Xbox 1 functionalities?
Or at the very least it wont be the full package.
Who cares about ESPN or other cable channels? Only a few countries will have access to it anyway.
Xbox One will be good for the gamers who want something more than a gaming device and are based in the countries (like US) that have been offered the full package.
They will just stick with cheaper options that dont sacrifice NOTHING for gaming.
In the end mate, the Kinnect is just a BONUS.
It doesnt mean its an instant auto-buy.
And lower your tone down a bit. you seem a bit frustrated. For what really? 2 consoles?
@worlock77 Also a lesser factor that exists is that there a big number of studios, and each studio has different levels of expertise, they are not as unified as tv or movie publishers.
But ultimately its all about how the industry is developed.
Now that publishers have seen that big potential ($) exists, they have flocked. And quality has suffered. (ex Dragon Age Origins in production for 7 years, Dragon Age 2 for 1 year!)
And we have companies that have gone to Kickstarter, and the people respond cause they want that quality back.
