@parkurtommo @Geon106 True, like you i have a pretty decent rig(i5 2500k, AMD 7950, 16GB RAM etc) so I do like games looking very good, but that being said I still sometimes play games like Transport Tycoon, Theme Hospital and newer also not so graphically good games - Games where the gameplay makes up for the visuals. But I do see your point and I guess all the games from CryTek come to mind :P
Always on and being unable to play used games are the 2 main ones for me. I quite enjoy Kinect so that doesn't bother me, as for the price well generally I PC game so games are already up to £15 cheaper than consoles. But in respect of my Xbox/PS3 i'd become more dependent on used games. Now if they block used games and raise the cost of new games, I'd be screwed.
I think gaming is pretty mass market now. If you include mobile and social gaming. Okay it isn't as mass market as say, television. But I tend to play games more than watch TV these days so swings and roundabouts.
I completely disagree on the basis of the indie market. I mean console gamers go for graphics generally speaking. But then on PC there has been hugely successful indie games where graphics aren't that good. Minecraft for example(before anyone says its on 360, yes, but only after it became hugely successful on PC, and the 360 version is greatly cut down anyway so sit down). What about games like Lone Suvivor and Hotline Miami etc? I think good graphics can help tell the story and help immersion to an extent, but it must surely be dependent on the genre? Heavy Rain looks good, it is an interactive movie so understandable. Faster Than Light, graphics are very mediocre but they work for the type of game.
Out of all the people on here slating the game, I wonder how many have actually played it? They are instead just going by what they've heard and the server issues. I think Simcity is a great game, just let down by EA screwing everyone over by not labelling it as an MMO. Plus calling games "services" which they are not.
Now the trolls will flame this comment, but I won't post on here again so don't expect me to be part of your flame war, or try and see my reaction
All they mentioned was it was 8GB of RAM therefore it is more powerful than most PCs? Hmm. I disagree. RAM isn't everything, plus is very cheap. I have 16GB of RAM in my PC and it cost me £80 for the lot.
I'm not a PC fanboy, though I enjoy PC gaming I do console game aswell and PCs are pretty much always at the forefront of technology. There is no arguement there. Which one is best overall is a personal opinion/choice and the entire PC vs Console debate is pointless in that respect.
However PCs will constantly get upgraded, get newer hardware that cannot be ported to consoles after they are released etc, keeping PCs ahead of consoles. Sadly if you just take the off the shelf cheap average PC then yes of course it wont keep up with a console.
