Does anyone know if Gerstmann will be getting video reviews back up? He always did a good job on those.
biBLioTek I never said that. Please go back and look at your code. You need to delete your last end quote and correct the people's names you are quoting. Thanks.
IT depends if she keep talking to you after or if she left. Is she a shallow hot girl or one that doesnt care that much what people think about her.raider1648
[QUOTE="hisfamily"][QUOTE="EMOEVOLUTION"]Key word: Trying. Don't try. It's waste of time.
If you played it smooth it's really not that big of deal. You should have explained you buy Yugio cards from little kids for cheap and resell them on ebay for profit, and that's how you got a really bad ass car. Or something along those lines.
EMOEVOLUTION
Your example sounds like a lie.
It's not lying. Obivously you don't know how to flow with the situation.
If you're socially smart and you want to bag a shallow hot girl then this is pretty good advice. She'll know you're probably lying, but it won't matter. Either she had a physical connection or she didn't. Now it's up to you to figure out if you've messed up the social connection and if she is shallow then I guarantee you have. As the poster said you have to be smooth and not let it bother you. That's how you mack. Now if she isn't a shallow hot girl then you have nothing to worry about. Just be yourself and be confident in who you are. So what if they laughed at you, she won't care. You'll learn soon enough they're idiots and soon some of them will grow up to be garbage men. (Not that there is anything wrong with that). Poke fun at them if you want and be yourself because that's what this type of person would respect most.
Honestly Miley Cyris is probably the best Role Model girls have had in a while. helium_flashI'd be more concerned on what kind of role models parents are making these days. Frankly it's not looking good. And it's getting worse.
Thats not really what I'm here to talk about, I'm here to talk about how little girls' Role Models are whores.mrenvelope
Your calling Hillary Duff a whore based on that? What's wrong with you people?? She's 21 for god's sake. I can't speak for who her audience is, might be, or will be in the future. But I can speak to that video being PG-13. And in my opinion in good taste. Perhaps there was a nudity moment in there I missed… oh wait I'm sure I would have caught that. If you want to say you don't like her maybe going for an "older" non kiddy audience that is one thing. And I would probably argue there is a decent chance her marketing team/manager said she's getting older and should change her audience as she ages. But frankly that's not under debate. Theres no need to describe someone like that whom appears to be a respectable citizen.
You won't make it majoring in science with just book smarts. Sure, it's fine for classes (except for analytical and logic heavy ones like math, orgo, and physics where you simply can't make it just being able to regurgitate information), but it won't help you with research. Granted you don't need to do research to get your B.S., but very few people major in science with the intent to stop at a B.S. Basically if you want to get a Ph.D. (and thus a decent job in the sciences) you need to have a solid research background, which means having done research of your own at some point in your undergrad career. That means getting into a professor's lab, coming up with your own research project, planning out your research (which requires a solid understanding of research methods and the theory of your field), going through all the necessary hurdles to even begin your research (grants, ethics committees, etc), running your experiments, collecting data, encoding data, processing data, and then creating your poster, thesis, or journal article (the latter two posing even further challenges).gameguy6700Our discussion was discussing pre-med and pre-law. By definition a Ph.D student is suppose to add something new to the discipline before they graduate with a Ph.D. For the most part I totally agree with you. Although I will say some Ph.D students can get their idea for their dissertation from a friend or colleague. And then they run with that idea and do the research. But again I do agree with you in principle.
You're talking about surviving in the real world then? I was under the impression the main point of this thread was that the TC didn't like pre-med/pre-law students thinking they're special, so in turn I gave what the workload of a pre-med student was in order to show all the hardships they have to deal with. Thus, the reason they're showing off is because they feel as if they're competing against the best of the best, and are sacrificing much more of their life in comparison to students with other easier majors. The TC said they are not in med school yet, but that is the type of work required of them in order to get to that point… Also you have to take into account by getting those grades, it is showing that the student is very dedicated and most likely does have the perseverance to go on into the medical field.Renegade_FuryThe same can be said about politicians. Imagine all of the hard work they must go through to get where they are. I can think of few things harder than trying to become a congressman, senator, or even president of the United States of America. The amount of drive and dedication needed to accomplish this is probably very difficult to match. Even after hours you are still on call and still have to act or be a certain way anywhere you go. Now in line with your point I don't see where this dedication makes Senators and Congressmen any smarter than anyone else. I would argue most of them are idiots. Dedicated maybe but still not the brightest.
With that said, personality is not the be all end when it comes to holding a job in the medical profession.Renegade_FuryAgreed. Which is why social smarts is not needed in College! But is important, though still not required in private practice. Take Gregory "House" for example. =)
As for what they're going to do in the real world, job related, well of course they'll get that training in med school. It's hand on, as are the labs and research work they may have done in undergrad (of course not at the same level of difficulty). You learn logically how to deal with the patient's problem, and that comes from studying and experience… To become a doctor you need to make sure you can treat patients correctly, and in order to get to that point, the person needs to be book smart and have ENOUGH logic to get to that point.Renegade_FuryWell I take it for the most part we're taking this argument now to after college, which is a little different. I will say that I still question their ability to diagnose (use logic) and imagination (adding to their discipline). For the most part I think doctors regurgitate prelearned "if and then" statements. If you come in with "this this and that" then we try this this and that. If you step outside those learned "if and then" statements the majority of doctors don't know what to do. I've never seen a doctor like Gregory House that has that kind of intuitive logic.
If you get A's in these types of courses, you ARE smart, and nothing anyone says can convince me otherwise.renegade_furyFrom everything mentioned in the paragraph I don't see anything that isn't book smart. The only thing mentioned in which could possibly fit another category was when you said "logic". Therfore I will constrain my argument to your only valid point.
Now it's my opinion that while in college pretty much all you need is book smarts. And it is when you get into the real world where things like social smarts, logic, and imagination start to matter. I hate to give a real life example or pick on anyone, but I think Dan from survivor is the perfect example. Not only did he get through college, but he also got through law school, which is a step further than my argument intended. Now as a full fledged lawyer I wonder why he couldn't muster the logic to figure out where the idol was. Instead of looking in the obvious place… you know on land. He instead spent all his time looking in the dumbest places for the idol. Good luck finding that idol "IN" the river. Haha.
A lawyer should be able to deduce and think logically with the best of them. Seriously watch that episode. Anyone watching that show has to wonder how the heck he made it out of college and more importantly law school and be so clueless. I think the point is Dan the Lawyer like so many others is book smart. I would argue you can get out of college with excellent grades based solely on book smarts. And for the record there is nothing wrong with that.
