No, and I don't even think that Miyamoto's eventual passing (scary thought) would significantly halt the production of these franchises. Remember Super Mario Land 1 & 2? Those didn't even involve Miyamoto; they were directed by Gunpei Yokoi. Yes, I know that he's dead, but my point is that Nintendo will always be able to find creative genius to produce quality games in these franchises. So, all in all, I would say that Nintendo would only halt production of these franchises only if they begin to sell very poorly.UltimateXShadow

I hope you're right. Its getting harder and harder to find creative genius.

My main concern would be will the higher ups at Nintendo continue to support making better games. Will Nintendo continue making these high quality games which support their high quality characters?

Lets hope that this factor never changes.

Nintendo has such great characters, but the reason why they've lasted the test of time is not just because Miyamoto made such great characters but also because he continues to make quality games to back them up.If for some reason the games started to reek then these characters would start to lose their backbone which holds their greatness.

As a previous poster has already said I agree I'd like to see the characters every generation (4-5yrs).I'd also like to see if they can come up with a lot more ingenious characters and games. The only problem with Nintendo in game making seems to be that we wish this first party publisher could make a lot more games.Nintendo needs to learn how to clone Miyamoto or something.
