Windows7 will keep all your old file. Most of them will be in a folder called Windows.old You won't lose anything. But you will most likely have to reinstall any games or software.

That's what i was dreading! It'll take forever!

Then fear not! I had vista and upgraded to Win 7. While doing the installation just choose "Clean Install" and all your old files will poof.

I'm a little confused, when i got my pc with vista, it came with a "windows 7 upgrade". If I install this, will i lose any data or have to reinstall things?

I believe that W7 will keep them in a folder called "old" or something. I don't know.

Anyone else have a clue?

The "Vista takes up 40+% RAM" argument was false anyway. It just came from people who do not understand what Vista is doing. Still though, glad you like Win 7, I'm also enjoying it.

I almost forgot another option is to simply change your "Power Plan" to "High Performance" That should make the adjustments for you.

[QUOTE="Ghost_loy"]Do you have powersave mode on? Check your power settings and be sure it is not allowed to mess with your CPU. That's what was wrong with mine....crazy-player
I'm not sure, how can I check that setting? Is it in the BIOS?

Go to control panel, then click "System and Security" and click "Power Options"

Then click customize or "Change plan" Then click "Advanced"

Find the drop down for "Processeor power management" and be sure the "Minimum processor state" is 100%

What this does is when you are not using your pc it slows you cpu to conserve power. However it does not remember to return you to your overclock when you start using you pc again, which results in the computer returning you cpu to it's default clock. Let me know if you need more help.

By changin the minimum to 100 you stop the pc from ever lowering power consumption from your pc. Thus never lowering you clock.
