If your the type of person who is not really into fighting/racing/sports games then the console really isn't for you. PC gaming is superior in all aspects, has better graphics, cheaper games, DLC is free a lot, possible mod support for games, and an increasing trend is the ability to play with a 360 controller on pc games, some games might make use of a controller better like dead space 2. Mouse controls for RTS and FPS games are superior to the console.
For me the only point of owning a console is to play console exclusive games, I will be buying a ps3 eventually in addition to my 360 but I will only be buying exclusive titles, even then not all exclusive titles are good. Both the 360 and PS3 have had a load of Exclusive failures. As I can see it now the only game I will be buying in the future on 360 is Gears 3. As for the PS3 interesting titles look like Killzone 2, Metal Gear Solid, Heavy Rain, possibly Uncharted and Resistence. But really I don't think I will spend much time in multiplayer in any of those titles....hope the single players would be worth it.
I can honestly say I don't know if I would spend much time on 360 or PS3 once I get a gaming PC, almost makes me question if it is worth getting a PS3 just for a couple games.

1. Mouse controlls for shooters arent always better, it makes every game feel the same, lacking a unique feel (assuming the game has one)
2. Consoles have SplitScreen.
3. Consoles share simmiliar features (emulaters, web browsers, media players, NetFlix, ect)for less than half the cost.
4. Larger screen to play on (40+ inch flatscreen)
5. You can't play PC while on a comfty couch
Aside from that I agree.
