No don't get me wrong; there's noting wrong w/ rock. Heck, I think rock is awsome; I'm leaning towards more of Death Metal etc.

Genres like that in my opinion disrespect music. Music is a form of art. I like artists who treat it that way, and not like a joke. The majority of Metal musicians (especially death metal) care more about image over music, and intensity over quality.

I totally agree with you. Music should be used to stir different emotions; not rage, anger and such.

Edit: WHAT'S with the KOOL-AID? Off topic. Plus, nothing beats good ol' Coke.

[QUOTE="MichaelSoft"]Seriously but this is a really bad prblem, kids can be influenced by this because of their connection when they were little and the music can swing moods. For everyone who listens to those may I ask y? Would be good if someone responded.whos_next000
I quote Frank Zappa: "I wrote a song about dental floss, but did anybody's teeth get cleaner?" Music is only influencing maniacs and idiots.

Look, violence, sex, anger, jealousy; it's allnatual human behavior. Going to floss your teeth isn't up there. (Although hygiene is; flossing doesn't conjure emotions out of us.)

[QUOTE="Fortier"]Consider this...Cannibal Corpse's lyrics are clearly evil forwards...yet they've gained a reputation as some of the nicest guys in music (if it can so be called)...Fortier

Cannibal Corpse is a joke and no one takes them seriously music-wise.

Actually, some people do...somehow. How one could enjoy it is beyond me, but you know...to each his own.

Not familiar w/ Cannibal Corpse but how are they known as the nicest guy? Just wondering, there music seems... very gory.

I'm not so good with my music subgenres...ok? >__>

Straight from wikipedia "Death Metal's lyrical themes typically invoke violence, but also contain various themes of Satanism..." Maybe not Satan himself; but violence no the less (kinda like rap). Now I'm not generlizing, it's not all Death Metal, just some.

That's my 2 cents.

:|What's the point of even replying with that if you yourself say that maybe it has nothing to do with Satan which it really doesn't.

Ok ready for this corny-yet-makes-sense comeback? Okay you asked for it.

Satan can be the essence of evil and wrongdoing. Violence, rape and sins. Well, if music promotes it; it's promoting Satan! :o

That's my 4 cents.

For the record: I'm not a religious man.

Makes sense. But that's an unintentional tie to Satan nonetheless.

I think that documentary is pretty bad. I mean, some of the things are of course right, everyone knows that. But that documentary seems to try to prove that pre-rock(pre-1950s) society was all christian and moral...heh no...guynamedbilly

No, I think they're trying to say that in the past few decades some music is trying to promote violence and such. And looking around I believe some of it is true.

Yep, most bands that started it used Satanic themes e.g. Slayer, but they weren't really Satanic once you get to know them. It's more about offending people, once again anti-christian :D Also i see it as a form of art.

I don't like one thing though. Music stirs and conjures the emotions (happy, sad, mad, grief) and shouldn't be used as a weapon to promote violence. The world is a violent place and this is not helping. Yes music is a art, but it can be used either way.

That's my 3 cents.

Yah but what's the quote from V for Vendetta, "An artist tells lies to get to the truth" or something like that. Except for a few who are really nuts(Norway church burnings), i don't know any metalheads that support violence :? How many rappers are out shooting each other n such.......

You'll be surprised. How many rappers are alleged weed heads? If they don't promote it, please don't sing it. If I go and sing a song, "Golfer4Life is the sexiest man alive."I'm promoting that I'm the sexiest man alive (which of course I am... not). See my point?
