9th PS3 Game Aced! And Level 22 on GS! Almost Level 12 on PSN!

Assassin's Creed 2. I had this game since launch. I devoted a single week to this game, getting right to Chapter 5. From there, half a dozen games got pushed on me that I ended up playing. About a week ago, I got back into the game. In a week's time, I had gotten over 90% out of all the trophies the game offered. Now, it marks my 9th game on PS3 that I have gotten all the official trophies on, Platinum included.

So which game will mark my 10th accomplishment? Final Fantasy XIII? Dragon Age: Origins, which was sitting on shelf equally as long? White Knight Chronicles, which may take all summer to do? Demon's Souls, another equally long game? Heavy Rain, which will take a few playthroughs? Who knows...

I'm also Blaster Master on GS, which marks Level 22.

And because of AC2, I'm at 95% progress for Level 12. Acing another 3 games will most likely put me at Level 15. I'm off to bed now. Currently, I'm still playing RE:5 online along with White Knight Chronicles and Red Dead Redemption (which makes me feel like a Clint Eastwood western every time I play it).

Off To A Great Summer Start!

I know it's been nearly a month since I posted a blog on Gamespot. But, I am here. And I plan to get back into the swing of things with you guys, both in unions and blogs alike.

First off, I got a bunch of new games. Red Dead Redemption and 3D Dot Game Heroes make up my latest buys. Both are awesome. While one is very nostalgic for a PS3 game, the other is nostalgic in a different way. Going from 32 bit into a 3D setting as Legend of Zelda infamously reminded us of to a western third person that only Rockstar could do best is hard to do.

Secondly, I only have one class to get ahold of before I nab my second college degree. I got screwed over when one of my last classes got cancelled due to low enrollment. So, I have to go back in the fall for it.

I saw Iron Man 2 in theaters. Easily the best summer film. Not as good as the first one, but still good. I'm hopeful for the third one just because there's presence in it that opens up for arguably the most intense film in the trilogy. And speaking of trilogies, I heard recently that Megan Fox got axed from the third Transformers flick simply because Michael Bay just had enough of her. Why do I feel warm inside after typing that?

As for my 2010 lineup, I am looking at Fallout: New Vegas, Dead Space 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum 2, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2, and hopefully Tales of Vesperia. Gotta love sequels...

It's getting late here, so I'm gonna sign off. If anyone's got Red Dead Redemption by now, invite me so we can go online. My tag's XSkittleKrazyX. Until next time!

My 8th Platinum Trophy and Level 11 on the PSN! And Summer Plans!

It's been about a couple of weeks since I posted anything pertaining to fun. School's kept me busy since it's the home stretch. Now, this is the last full week of class. All I have to do is deal for the next week, and then I am done until near the end of August! :D

I earned my 8th Platinum Trophy tonight on Borderlands. All I got left is the Underdome Coliseum challenges to do. In addition, I've got a Level 61 Soldier I'm so happy for and itching to get into some 2nd Playthrough gameplay with a few others at my level.

Because I've been so busy with my Trophy hunting, working in this game's put me at Level 11 on the PSN, at about 25% complete. And I've still got a bunch of other PS3 games to Ace. It's gonna be a LOOOOOONG summer... 8)

I got plans this summer to go see a few movies, including Iron Man 2, the new Toy Story, and The Losers. In addition to working 30+ hours a week at my job and playing video games, I also got a few projects this summer for the house.

It's time for me to head to bed now. Now that I've gotten the bulk of Borderlands out of the way and going to leave the coliseum battles for recreation's sake, I'm gonna delve into Dragon Age: Origins along with Final Fantasy XIII.

Good night, folks.

I Thank Briantbo1 on PS3 for Reviving My Borderlands Experience!

Some time ago, I received an invite from this username on my PSN account. When I compared my trophy list with his, I was a little shocked. He is right now, the one on my friends list that has the highest PSN level and trophy level to date. He has played a considerable amount of titles (ranging from the most epic to the most mundane) all for the purpose of either gaining easy trophies (Terminator Salvation has only a few trophies, all of which are GOLD!) or playing hardcore experiences.

He has given me a partial reason for striving to finish some of the games I play. I am almost to level 11, compared to his level 14. I've aced several PS3 games compared to him, but I've got admiration for his devotion.

I finally had a chance to play online with him after a few months. I took Borderlands online in an attempt to give my Level 19 Soldier (Krieger) a run. What did I find waiting? A level 51 Soldier on his part. So we played together for a couple of hours, trekking around in the DLC we both had. I got a couple of trophies (one of which was critical, yet he got it because he had aced Borderlands already and had said trophy)...I gained nearly 10 levels, amassed an excess of 1 million credits, and died (a lot of times). Granted, I was an equipment hog and grabbed a considerable amount of cash that spilled out for some of the high level killings, and I felt I shouldn't have...but when you're getting docked over 50K for respawning, you tend to try and earn back what was lost whatever way you can. But overall, he was pretty cool to play with.

I plan to play another round with him sometime today this Easter Sunday if he's on. Although I've gotta find some better weaponry now, once I get a high enough level and some good equipment, I am positive that the two of us can find a very mutual partnership in game.

Because of him, I am excited about playing Borderlands again. And I hope anyone who reads this may want to invite me in for a game...or join us for our expeditions to come.

Update 2: A Guy Walks Into A Convention...A Comedically True Story!

http://www.joystiq.com/2010/03/30/breach-game-code-theft-at-pax-east-ends-in-arrest/

The article above says it all.

Basically, a hacker got pwned at one of the biggest gaming conventions for -wait for it-...stealing a game there.

This suspect saw a booth for Breach, Atomic Games' new shooter, and thought to himself 'this game looks pretty cool. I'm gonna steal it'. Did he also realize he had no inner monologue (ergo people heard him out loud) and was obsessive-compulsive enough to repeat it multiple times, even in front of the personnel at the booth?

So he looks around and he says, 'Hey there's an ethernet cord here at the Breach booth. Since my wi-fi isn't working, I am sure they won't mind if I do this without permission'. He plugs in with his laptop and supposedly accesses 'Xbox Neighborhood'. By coincidence, he sees that Breach was magically installing itself onto his machine. 14 MBs later, one of the vile Breach attendants points to him and goes 'Not so fast!' The hacker retorts with a cackle and a 'Catch Me If You Can'...!

Taking off into the crowd, he used the little teachings he had earned from Ezio Auditore Di Firenze from Assassin's Creed 2. Alas, even the real life security is intuitive enough to discern him from the crowd. Closing in, he reaches for his hidden blade...only to realize this is real life. And he utters a 'Blast!'

Taken into custody, the man states that 'I didn't steal the code. I was just using the ethernet cable to access XboxNeighborhood because the wi-fi was down'. So, the burly cop points his grease-ridden finger to the hacker's laptop and goes 'then how did this 14 MBs of game code end up on your machine?' 'Um...by magic?'

Stating on Xbox Live communications of his endeavor, he also elaborated on how those evil police had confiscated all of his precious hacked equipment: his modded Xbox 360, which had been locked down from Xbox Live for 'playing a copy of Forza 3 early'...On that note, he asks Stephen Toulouse, the Director of Policy and Enforcement of Xbox Live, at his boothat PAX Eastif he could have his gamertag unbanned for this instance. Toulouse merely replied that no early copies of games on Xbox Live are ban-worthy. Only those with pirated copies on Xbox Live are ban-worthy...he also stated his modded DS, modded PSP, modded XMB3, and both of his laptops were confiscated.

Four hours with the po-po, he bargains his life for many. 'I can get you the names of the inner circle of hackers I am acquainted with,' he states. 'Bigger fish than I am...what do you think?'

Apparently, the fact they ripped him off for every piece of illegally modified gaming equipment he owned was compensation enough for putting PAX East through this escapade.

Anyway, that is my story folks. I also hit Level 21 on GS.

I also bought Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition and both Penny Arcade downloads on the PSN. All of them have been quite enjoyable. :-)

Until next time, lemme know how you enjoyed my little tale.

UPDATE: The suspect was ID'd as James D May, 20 year old hacker...AND HE'S A FREAKING DELAWAREAN LIKE I AM! He got called to appear in Boston Municipal Court this morning. He didn't show up. So now, the guy's been issued an arrest warrant...wow.

UPDATE 2: James D May surrendered today. I guess he got so withdrawn on the run that he couldn't take it anymore. I think when he walked into the police station and asked if he could have his game consoles back, seeing the large police force made himsay 'I surrender...I can't fight you off without a BFG...'

Penny Arcade: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness...Buy or No Buy?

On the PSN, they have both episodes available as a bundle for 14.99 instead of the usual 29.98 separately. I love Penny Arcade's zany comic style and opinions. From what I saw, it plays out like a pretty intriguing RPG with its share of kooky puzzles. And overall, you can get around 5-8 hours out of each episode, depending on how thorough you plan to be with them. So I'm basically investing anywhere from $1.00 to $1.50 per hour of game time for this bundle. I need opinions. The game gets around a 4/5 on average from a lot of users.

While I still can, should I invest 14.99 and buy this bundle?

Gamestop Being Sued For 'Deceptive Used Game Sales'...

Kotaku, IGN, and (possibly) Gamespot have already begun posting articles pertaining to this incident.

A lawsuit has been filed on the part of James Collins in regards to Gamestop 'deceptively promoting used sales'. The plaintiff walked into a Gamestop, purchased a USED copy of Dragon Age: Origins (54.99 versus the standard 59.99 MSRP) because it had advertised on the box 'Free DLC with purchase'. Purchasing the item, he played the game weeks later to discover that the game DID NOT offer free DLC, as the box stated. When he went to return his item to Gamestop, he found out that he could not and was stuck with a 54.99 purchase, followed up by him paying 15 dollars for said DLC. The content has been cited as the Stone Prisoner side quest with character Shale.

Typically, Bioware and EA have been promoting new sales of games like Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 2, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 with free DLC downloads. And it has helped them get those sales. They also offer the same DLC that was packed free with these new copies for an MSRP price on their respective online services for those who purchased used copies of said games. After all, these companies spend lots of money to ensure that everything they sell has legal backing behind it.

First off, this guy walked into Gamestop, saw the USED copy sitting on the wall with the FREE DLC ad stamped upon it, as was a part of the game case's box art, and bought it with the pretense he was getting FREE DLC. It wasn't a sticker that could have easily been removed from the case. It was part of Dragon Age's cover art. However, the fine print reads 'good for one time use only' or something like that. That was his mistake: presuming that somebody who bought the game BRAND NEW and already got guaranteed the FREE DLC would opt to just not use it and sell the game back and let some random individual profit from that unused voucher. Now, if he had been misled by an associate who told him, 'oh yeah, the used game comes with the DLC just like the new one', then he might have had a case against Gamestop and the associate in question. But that wasn't the case here.

Secondly, Gamestop states explicitly their policy on their receipts: 'Any USED item purchased may be returned or exchanged within 7 days from purchase date; any item purchased that is defective may be exchanged for the same identical item within 30 days'. This individual waited 'weeks' before playing the game to discover the supposed FREE DLC was not free at all.

Thirdly, he states that Gamestop refused to return his item when 'weeks later', he discovered the item did not have everything that he expected. In other words, he tried to return an item for a refund outside of the stated return policy, as was listed on his receipt. Obviously, Gamestop was not obligated to do said refund.

All in all, is it just me or did this guy just make some foolish mistakes and take too long to rectify them? Although Gamestop may have had its issues with consumers on some instances, they were completely in the right in this case. What do you guys think?

The ASK ME ANYTHING BLOG PART 2!

I did get some interesting questions. But not enough of them. Hopefully, some of you guys will be on this weekend and bored. So once again...

ASK ME ANYTHING...G...G...G!

Some interesting questions and answers include:

-Bluegreen17 asked me my name and eye color. The name is Dean and I have lovely hazel eyes with a tinge of green.

-Just-Adam asked me how I came up with my username on GS. Let's say it was my early attempts at being artistically minded. Now, it's much easier for me to come up with a name.

-xSmiLeZx asked what my fave genre is and game. RPGs and Xenogears, FF3, and Legend of Dragoon take the top three spots.

-Shadow-Elite asked me my future purchases. Fallout: New Vegas is this year, with possible Tales of Vesperia if localized this year.

-Kleeyook asked me a hot topic about my stance on homosexuals, tranvestites, and bisexuals. And my opinion is... -CENSORED BY VARIOUS RELIGIOUS AND POLITICAL ORGANIZATIONS TO PRESERVE THEIR INTEGRITY...tch.-

So who else has something to ask me? :-)

The Ask Me Anything Blog!

Okay, friends. It looks my ceremonial 100th blog got overshadowed by a whole mess of other blogs getting posted so shortly after mine. I wanted to turn it into an 'ask me anything' blog, but since a lot of people didn't notice its existence...I have to start again.

So, here it comes.

ASK ME ANYTHING!

Hit me with your questions, friends!
