Resident Evil5 is kind of like Uncharted only you fight mutants instead of human enemies. It's an action-adventure game with shooting and puzzle solving and it's really fun. You can even find treasures in the game to sell for weapons and items just like in Uncharted.

There's also the Tomb Raider games, there's a Tomb Raider Trilogy pack available on PS3 with Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Tomb Raider: Legends, and Tomb Raider: Underworld. These games are ports from the PS2 but the graphics are updated in high definition and look better than most HD ports.

I recommend either one of these if you're looking for a good action-adventure game set in an exotic location.

I've played M rated games like Resident Evil since I was 10 years old and I don't think they had a negative effect on me.

But if I was a parent I guess it would depend on the type of game. For example Grand Theft Auto is a game I wouldn't want my kids to play because of the amorality of the game's setting.

Some M rated games really don't seem that bad, so I don't think the violence and sexuality of a game is really as important as the general message it sends to the children who play them. Games like Grand Theft Auto basically teach you that it's OK to be a sociopath who steals cars, sleeps with prostitutes, and murders police officers for fun.

I don't understand what the big deal is with Bethesda games. If it wasn't for the fact that all of them are filled with annoying glitches and bugs that render the games almost unplayable I would actually like the games. I admit I love the idea of having a free open world to explore, but I get sick of things like important NPCs disappearing or the game freezing and forcing me to have to restart. It's not so bad if you have the games for PC and can fix the problems yourself, but I don't think that gamers should have to fix the games for the companies. It should be their job to make sure the games are playable before they release them to the public.

What are some PS3 games that you currently own right now? Here is my list:

  • Demon's Souls
  • Little Big Planet Game of the Year Edition
  • Resident Evil 5
  • Siren: New Translation (imported game)
  • Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
  • Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Game of the Year Edition
  • Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
  • Yakuza 3

I also own Beowulf: The Game, Fallout: New Vegas, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. However I don't really like these games that much so I'm planning to get rid of them eventually.

I have a birthday coming up so I'm hoping to maybe get a game or two when that day comes. I'm thinking about either The Tomb Raider Trilogy or Yakuza: Dead Souls.

Yakuza 3 has a pretty good story, it's the only one of my games that has a plot that actually makes me care about what happens to the characters.

Also Siren Blood Curse has a pretty good plot that screws with your head, and you can collect archive files to read that help explain what's going on in the game so it has a real mystery-solving aspect to it.

Siren Blood Curse is a really good horror game, if you live in the US it's probably a good idea to import it from the UK because here in the US it's censored and only available as a download. I don't know about you but I perfer my games to be uncensored and on disc. ;) You can also import it from Hong Kong under the title Siren New Translation where it's available in English, that's where my copy came from.

Also the Yakuza games are coming out with a new game in March called Yakuza: Dead Souls which is about zombies. It's part of that new fad where companies take games that aren't normally about zombies and put zombies in them. It actually looks kind of scary to me, so you might like it.

Edit: Also the best thing about PS3 games is that they aren't region protected you so can import them from other countries and play them on your PS3.

Of course there are games I would like for him to play, but unfortunately ones I don't think he would appreciate. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West for example seems amazing. It seems a bit too advanced/hard for me to play though, but maybe I'll play it when I've gotten a bit better at playing in general. I looked at the review for Yakuza 3, and it seemed really cool. We both have a long time crush for japanese culture, so this would be cool to play together, seeing how we can both relate to the environment (plus I even used to live in Tokyo). Would it be okay to start playing the third game in the series though? Even though it provides flashbacks from previous games, do you wtill recommend he should play them in chronological order? ---- Edit Oh! I just realised there's a Yakuza 4. And something called Dead Souls coming out in March? So many games! ohrusty

Yakuza 3 does have story trailers that help explain about the plot of Yakuza 1 and 2 so that you can understand what's going on in the game better. Before playing the game I recommend watching both videos, they're kind of long but they give you an idea of who the characters are and what's going on in the story.

One thing I have to warn you about is that some of the content from the Japanese version of Yakuza 3 was left out in the US version of the game, namely a Japanese history trivia game and the hostess clubs. What really sucks is that the hostess clubs can still be entered but you can't do anything with them except ask the employees about local bars in the area. On the bright side you can still go on dates with most of the girls, but instead of meeting them at the clubs you meet them at the burger and ice cream shops instead. Some fans see this as a good thing because you don't have to buy them expensive gifts or choose the right pick-up lines first.
