Its about the corporatization and profiteering practices of the modern video game industry, not necessarily the pre-orders themselves. For the gamers that have been around for more than a decade or two or three, these new and rampant practices are truly unsettling. I suggest reading a bit more into the thought process of the article, then coming out and saying something as ingenious as "what's the big deal??", or "you can always get a refund"..... Or perhaps we should give up analysis and just continue to blindly buy **** without consideration of the consequences like EA and the others want.
A DDR (or should I say BBR) Snake Plisskin???!!? You have got to be ****Ting me!!!! I have forwarded the show to all my buds!!! All I suggest is lengthen in out a bit with more amazing content!! Can't get enough Carlos.
**** you EA. You have begun to ruin gaming, and you will not get a dollar out of me. It's sad, b/c I really loved the ME series (just like SSX)..... What a bummer the industry is becoming. Well, back to Cave Story I go ;)
Ohhh god... The highlight of my ***tty week!! DLC: The game is by far the best in my eyes... It's why I only play old games now! lol... Thanks for all the great links to amazing vids. Keep it up
@theKSMM Yep.. I agree. This will temporarily slow down hacking, not really stop it all that much @Gelugon_baat LOL... awesome. I agree. If need be pplz can wait.. I waited until a year ago to get a 3000... Games are like $5 now ;)
It's really funny how pissed off ppl get at this articles... wow.... The guy is just making a point about his opinion regarding a flaw in a product. This is just like any Op-Ed in any newspaper, anywhere. I think ppl are taking this personally for some reason. Goofy if you ask me...
This and EFMS (formally Bluffer's Guide) will keep me coming back to GS more frequently. Great job guys on the expansion of funny content, which I consider only second to really good and accurate game reviews,
This is exactly why I have decided to go into a sort of gaming homeostasis, pull out all my old consoles (e.g. Gamecube, PS1-2, PSP, etc...) and get back my roots, which are free from all the DRMs, DLCs, and online-pass bull**** that now plagues the industry. I refuse to partake in a system that increasingly takes advantage of its consumers by raising prices and partitioning games into chunks, and then has the audacity to attack things like second hand products and in-house 1:1 game sharing (i.e. PSP Vita).
I would have been interested in investing in the new generation of both handhelds and consoles, but the trends of anti used games, high-level proprietary externals (I really dont care for the reason), DRMS/DLC's, online passes and fees, etc.... is simply out of control and unacceptable to me as a gamer of 20+ years. I love my PSP 3000, because I have several large third-party SD cards full of amazing PSone games. The only money Sony will get from me now is a $5.66-9.99 price tag for a classic. I also love my original DS, because it is seemingly free from all the BS. Finally, @Brendan Sinclair: "self-contained games that don't bug me for in-app purchases".. I guess am confused? Sony doesn't due this with the systematic dismantling of games into DLC chucks that now constantly nag you to buy them while at the in-game menu???
