[QUOTE="HULKMANIA_001"]And FF caliber, what i think means is that how EVERY FF game has brought something new to the table and makes the genre feel FRESH unlike LO which is a rinse and repeat with some minor tweaks. VandalvideoEvery Final fantasy hardly brings anything new to the table. Final Fantasy is the perennial underachiever of the JRPG genre, relying on the innovations of better franchises like Suikoden, Shadow Hearts, and Star Ocean for their successes. Final Fantasy isn't without merits. It single handedly brought the genre into the mainstream, but it is far from the best franchise out there int he genre. I've played practically every last JRPG known to man, even those that don't have english translations like Linda Cubed which has one of, if not the best story in any JRPG every created. I can honestly say that there is only one FF game in my top 20.
FF7 brought cinematic story telling into the genre, FF8 brought in a fully customizable(yet broken) leveling system at the time, FFX expanded on the cinematic story telling by adding voice acting, and FF12 brought in a MMORPG ****battle system which i believe works flawlessly and will become the norm for JRPG's to come, albeit not to the same extent but something similar will be in place in FF13. And above all this FF's have had memorable sound tracks-characters(for the most part) and themes and because each one is drastically different from the other each FF is able to keep a fresh feel to them. Keep in mindIve only menthioned the FF's from the PS era and not before, the ones before were what saved JRPG fromdying so i think thats merits alone for them to be considered innovative.
Now im not saying that you are wrong because it is evident you have much more JRPG experience behind the belt than me, im just trying to expand on my point and give reason.
