Some of the comments here make me believe that people misread the title, "worldwide PC "shipments" dropped to 76 million in second quarter of 2013." is the keyword here.
I think this is because its the digital age now. Steam sales are going nowhere :). And people prefer to wait for Steam discounts instead of buying an expensive box.
It was never about frequency, it was always the quality of the content. It hasn't been long since 5.2 is released and you are already bleeding out. Now you will blindy bring new content more frequently, hoping to get more players.
Good players get in the game, clear the content and get out for other MMO's. If your content lacks quality and challenge, then you will not be able to keep them in game. You will only keep your loyal player base. Good players motivate other players to stay in game, become an idol for them. Blizzard blindly ignores this fact and they will continue to bleed out...
I love what Brian Fargo is doing as well, by recollecting the old team, making old style games.
However, this may all turn into disappointment if they are not careful, and remember what made those games great. Same for Wasteland 2.
We are giving them too much credit, and Brian is already speaking like "We are writing history" and such. I really hope his greed won't blind his geeky, real gamer personality.
