[QUOTE="ZIMdoom"][QUOTE="XenogearsMaster"]A big chunk of that are MMORPGs... and this number is worldwide while the NPD report for consoles are only for NA.XenogearsMaster
It also includes microtransactions and online advertising. the PC alliance says they include these numbers because places like NPD don't track it. But if NPD doesn't track it, then those revenue aren't included in the console number either. Therefore, what are the console profits if we add in microtransactions (ie. Home, horse armour, alternate costumes, themes, etc), online advertising (how is this even counted as "software sales"), and subscription fees (ie. XBL fees, FF11 and soon FF13).
In other words, in my opinion, the PC Alliance is once again stacking their deck to create the illusion that game sales are skyrocketing while console sales are dropping. However, once again, their data doesn't prove the point they claim they are trying to make. They are intentionally stacking the deck to inflate their numbers, then comparing it to consoles which they know won't have that information added in.
Exactly, I didn't quite get why they would include online advertising... The inclusion seems like damage control. The fact that you're still bashing PC gaming because it isn't 5390457349857 times more profitable than console gaming is damage control as well.
