[QUOTE="HappyProzak"][QUOTE="CyRu5"] [QUOTE="HappyProzak"]The screen on the PSP is actually very good. Sure it doesn't meet your expectations but that doesn't make it a bad lcd. There are very few outdoor lcd screens, and I haven't heard of any4.3" outdoor screens. Also the ghosting effect you call "shadowing" happens in all lcd screens, its worse in some than others. I agree in that I wish it was better, but I think you should familiarize yourself with lcd screens before you call a specific screen "bad".CyRu5
But these defects do make it a bad screen. Not all LCD screens have ghosting, and many LCD screens are visible in daylight.
when i use my cell phone in daylight, it's LCD screens don't have ghosting, and they are clearly visible in daylight. I don't have to shield the screen with my hand, or try to stand in the shade, just to see who's calling. Some phones unfortunately do have screens like that, and i feel sorry for the people that have to use them.
Is it really too much to ask for, to have a screen that allows a PORTABLE DEVICE to be used OUTSIDE?
Your comparing two different size screens though. Remember the PSP came out about two years ago now I believe, or is is three? Anyways, it's not fair to compare a 2" cellphone screen to a 4" psp screen. Also, ALL LCD screens have ghosting, just some have it more than others. And I don't know how you are determining whether a screen has ghosting or not, because they all have it to some extent, you probably just don't notice it on your cellphone because you aren't seeing fast moving pictures.
Okay, then i'll say that many LCD screens have ghosting which is not very noticeable if at all. My laptop doesn't have any noticeable ghosting. Neither does my phone. Neither does my DS. Neither does any decent LCD tv. I'm a PSP fan and everything, but I don't understand how you could defend it and say it's not a bad screen when it clearly is, the ghosting makes it look horrible, especially when watching/playing something with alot of dark colors. It just looks awful.
And I know there's got to be a few people on this board who own both versions of the PSP. My original question is directed at them. I just want to know how the PSPslim screen compares to the original screen, in terms of daylight visibility. Is it possible to play a game while waiting for a bus, or walking down the street? I hate having to stand in the shade just to play a damn game.
Any decent lcd screen doesn't have ghosting? I'm looking into buying a new LCD tv and even the top lcds have complaints about certain aspects like input lag, motion blur, and yes even ghosting. Remember as well that the PSP's technology is about 3 years old. Even a$2000 32inch tv 2 years ago had ghosting issues. Sony definately should of taken the time to update the psp's screen at this point since it got a remake, but the original screen was very nice for its time.
Like I said, you're not comparing apples to apples.
