Wow, nice list. I just started playing them this gen as I stopped gaming hardcore around the N64. Now I'm back and I regret ever leaving, I missed out on a lot of great games.

so i bought a xbox 360 which is the first video game system i have bought in 10 years. i was a pc gamer. i was sick of buying new video cards every 6 months and i played black ops and its mad hard to to use a xbox 360 controller LOL. so much different from mouse and keyboard. anyone else have these experiencesWhiteFraud

Don't forget about the modded controllers which the COD community is notorious for. I playwith a plain old controllerand I swear people have some weird advantage sometimes and I attribute that to Modded controllers. Remember that when you're getting owned relentlessly.

What game have you bought this year that you just wish you could get your money back for?? Mines Socom 4.

GreenPatchSky

None honestly. I have purchased Dead Space 2, Killzone 3, and Crysis 2 so far this year and have loved them all. I'm about to buy Socom 4 after just confirming the MAG engine is in fact powering it.

For me, it's Demon's Souls first, followed by Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Two very different RPG's that are both quite addictive.

I Honestly can't get my head around on how bad DA 2 looks and how good ME 2 looks.:x I loved the art style in ME 2, but can't stand the art style in DA 2. Even other older RPGs like Demon Souls and Fable 3 look a full generation ahead of DA 2.

What do you think?

Demon's Souls' graphics are sooo underrated. That game floored me at times. It has amazing art direction though. Sorry to hear about Dragon Age. Demon's Souls all day FTMFW!

I don't get it either, considering it's a shooter. Clearly they put more effort than many other games with similar hype and budget. All in all the story turned out pretty good. Like you said, it's not an oscar winning screenplay, but for a video game it was definitely at least average, and for a SHOOTER it was probably way ABOVE average.

BTW 8.5 is a good score, but if on the same scale you are giving Black Ops a 9.0 and Modern Warfare 2 a 9.5 and NOT calling out the story on those games then something is wrong. They are basically the same thing, only much less polished than KZ3.

Call of Doodie is garbage! Killzone and Resistance destroy it.

Let me just ask, because I know it's not Shakespeare, but how is Killzone 3's story really THAT bad? I dont understand the hate, because the story seems on par with most games that come out in my opinion.

I'm not defending it saying that the story is truly amazing or a step forward anything... but seems to me that GG made a simple, straight forward story to carry the game along without straying too far into "GeOW2 Dom Crying" territory. I just dont understand why people say the story was so bad... they fixed the meat head dialogue for the most part, toned down Rico's douchness, and eliminated the other horrible cast of characters, and actually gave you a better story than "go here, kill these guys, keep going" like the first.

What do you think?

Killzone and Resistance are great, Halo fanboys squeal. It's annoying but it's something you just have to deal with.

I'm going to wait on a major price drop for this one. After how disappointing Resistance 2 was, I can't justify paying full price for the sequel.

J-Man725

Disappointing? An EPIC campaign with great gun battles and cool boss battles, eight player coop campaign separate from the main campaign, and 60 player competitive online!! Are you ok chief?

I beat the first playthrough without anyone helping, it definitely took me quite a while, much of it filled with cursing and frustration. I did cheat though, I checked the wiki site to get strategies for a few of the bosses because they were handing me my ass far too many times.

Man even with all the stress this game deals you, you feel like a champ when you finally beat it, am i right?!

jer_1

Yea I have refused to rob my self of the pure experience. Tower Knight alone made me sell the game initailly. I will admit I was a noob to a RPG like this. Never played anything remotely like it in my life so that may explain why it was so hard for me. Just figuring out how to navigatethe menus, learningthe magic, miracles, etc took me quite a while. Also how to properly level my character up. My first character was all melee, I made it about halfway through before I quit.

I beat the game three times without anyone's assistance... and with relative ease. Naturally, there were a few frustrating spots that slowed me down, but nothing I couldn't overcome after three or four attempts. As for the multiplayer mode, I only played it a few times, and always as a blue phantom to help people out--never for my own benefit.

Rakuho

I don't believe that for a second. There's no way in hell you could defeat some of the bosses like Maneater or Flamelurker or Penetrator Or Old Hero in three or four tries unless you cheated and either looked up a strat or a youtube vid. BS all the way bro.
