The biggest difference between religion and a humanist atheist perspective is this: in humanism we are responsible for all things, good and bad. But in religion (at least most of them) only humans are responsible for evil and all goodness is attributed to a God. And as such I'm really left wondering why people find atheism to be depressing. I think it's uplifting.espoac

If my sig weren't already cluttered, i'd quote you in it. It's the thought that counts. promise :P

On-topic: Isn't it a Christian idea, stated in Psalms, that all music comes from god, and thus any music that doesn't praise him is a slight against him?

I'm not sure what causes it either, but I know some speakers are more sensitive than others. I have an alarm clock that makes that sound several times, leading me to believe it's being triggered by my brother's cell phone in the next room. But my computer speakers only do it when i happen to have the cell phone very near to them.

recently, I tried listening to portishead after seeing a (rather awesome) music video of theirs directed by Chris cunningham. Unfortunately, i found i really had to try to like them. I think if i'm in the right mood, i could get into it. Like maybe if i were to start smoking pot again :?

I personally find Gallhammer so damn creepy, I can't even listen to them. Those vocals are so scary. I don't find any male black metal hard to listen to at all, but yeah. Gallhammer is creepy.

Go ahead and post a band that you consider creepy :)

fkholmes

Certain Aphex Twin songs, but only because i've seen what Chris Cunningham fancies doing with some of those videos

Who the hell orders medium rare burgers? That's like asking someone to inject your intestines with e. coli.

Having said that, I do like my steak medium rare. Too rare and the flesh has too soft a consistency and too low a temperature. I've had steaks that were hot on the outside and cold on the inside and they're disgusting.

Too well-done, of course, and you lose much of the blood and juice, and that's not right either.

Luncbox1

I'm sorry but I have eaten steak rare my whole life and I've never gotten any illness off it. Rare is the only way to have it. Flash fried on the outside for a crispy outer bit and then pink/blue in the middle.

Steak is fine to have rare, but burgers are a different story: in the grinding process, the bacteria that normally exists on the outer layer of the meat gets ground up with the rest inside the moist meat. Once it's spread around like that, it's an E-coli shopping mall. That's why burgers are always supposed to be well-done, but steak can be rare.

Quoted for Truth.

Although i'll agree that Fuddruckers makes the best damned burgers, I was always baffled about the rare/medium/well question they ask. anyways, when it comes to steaks, i like mine pulp fiction-style: bloody as hell.
