Yes it lets me get into Windows if I use safe mode but it takes a little while at first for it to recognize the mouse and the keyboard I think which are plugged into the USB ports. Once I am in safe mode and chose restart I pick start Windows normally but again it will just sit there at the loading screen. Only way I can get into Windows is with safe mode.

I just installed a new DVD Burner and Windows XP now hangs at the loading screen just before the login screen. I had this problem not long ago when I installed a new video card and I think it is because Windows is not recognizing the mouse anymore. If I booted in safe mode Windows would boot up but at first it didn't recognize the mouse but after a short while it did and I was able to login.

When I installed the video card it finally let Windows load up but that was after many reboots. That is not working this time. I have tried using two different mice and plugging them into many different USB ports. AT the DOS screen during boot the light on the mouse is on but once it gets to the loading screen the light on the mouse turns off. This is one reason why I don't like upgrading hardware because Windows is very fussy sometimes.

I know if I reinstall Windows it will see my mouse and after a lengthy process of reinstalling everything all over again everything will work fine. I know I shouldn't have to do that though when I am just replacing a DVD drive. Anyways I think it is a problem with Windows not recognizing the mouse but I am not positive about that. Maybe someone has a better explanation or knows a solution to this problem?

If you are always wearing socks it will kill the hair on your legs and it will not grow back. So if you always wear a sock on your head it will kill the hair on your cheeks and on your head as well. You might look funny but eventually you won't have to worry about the hair anymore. :P

Well, I'm going to say yes. Can I prove it? No. But also consider this, if there's a future, then there has to be a past. remmbermytitans

Isnt that kinda like saying if my gas tank is empty now then there must be a time when it will be full? Of course you would first have to prove that your gas tank is really empty and that might require more then just trying to start the car. I don't think such an argument would be a good way of proving a past or future but I could be wrong about that. :)

[QUOTE="xaos"]An event follows another predictably for large scale mechanical processes, such as shown in the equations for kinematic motion, all of which involve change over time, and calculus was developed around the notion of "instantaneous" change in time. If the past doesn't exist, how could any of this work? How could a falling object have accelerated to whatever its speed is at a given moment?deadevil666

Hold a ball in your hands and drop it. Did you see the ball hit the floor before it hit the floor? No. If you did that would mean you are able to see the future. Did you see the ball in your hand after you dropped it? No. If you did that would mean you are able to see the past. That proves we can only see the present and that we are unable to see the past or the future.

A falling object has nothing to do with the passage of time. Drop a ball from a given height and you can time it to see how long it will take to hit the floor. You can repeat that process over and over again and it will always take the same amount of time to hit the floor. But again that has nothing to do with the passage of time. It is just an illusion.

Drop the same ball from the same height on Mars and the ball will take longer to hit the floor then it did on earth. If a falling object had anything to do with time it should always fall at the same speed. Somehow time would be keeping track of every object, piece of matter in the universe, making sure that they always obeyed the rule of time or speed.

The reason the ball takes longer to fall on Mars then it does on Earth has to do with gravity, the strong and weak nulcear forces and electromagnetism. You could also take resistance from air into account. So that ball will obey all known forces and they decide how long it will take the ball to hit the floor and at what speed it will travel but I don't think the matter in that ball will ever check in with the 4th dimension of time to see at what speed it should fall or how long it should take. That is why I think time is just an illusion and is just a concept that allows us to make sense of the changes that take place around us.

Dont forget terminal velocity :P

Well I might be forgetting other things also but...just trying to make a point. :P

Personally I don't think time exists and it is just an illusion. Time is just a point in 4 dimensional space. You can not travel to the past, or future because that would mean all matter and energy in the universe would have to exist in every point in space at once.

Think of it this way. The earth would have to exist not only where it is now but where it was a minute ago and where it will be a minute from now. If time existed then time travel could be possible which would create paradoxes. You could go back in time and kill yourself before you went back in time.

The reason you age is not because time is ticking by in the 4th dimension and the cells in your body are not checking in with some 4th dimensional clock to see how old you are. The cells in your body have to obey the 4 fundamental forces that have been indentifiedbut I don't think there is any proof, equation or theory that shows that matter or energy obey time in any way?

The reason everything doesn't happen instantly is not because of the passage of time it is because all matter and energy have to obey the fundamental forces that we know of. That gives us the illusion of time. We didn't just one day disover time. It is just a concept that man created that allows us to make sense of the changes that take place around us.

That is what I believe.

Why not just go around the lake and don't bother using the boat? Or put a muzzle on the wolf so it won't eat the chicken while you take the corn across. Or you could just call in a chopper so you could move everything across the lake quickly and efficiently.

It could be because the oil companies were planning on cutting production. They were not happy with oil being so low and only making billions a day. If you are not pulling in enough money to be able to buy a hotel and some exotic car each and every day then what is the point of living? I am sure the oil companies will say it is because it is winter and we are using more oil to keep warm so there is more demand.
