America is (unfortunately) a nation of people who call themselves either individualists or the religious right (collectivists). Both voting blocks are large supporters of the Republican Party, and are highly infuential in national politics. I don't think that Libertarians are individualists, though. They go on the internet and engage in groupthink, reinforcing each other's lopsided ideas of what is good for the world. They're rapidly becoming collectivists without knowing it, and the Right is just going to keep on gaining prestige with the American people. Things are looking bad right now. :(

Democrats control all levels of federal government. Alarmists are no needed on any side of the political spectrum.

Ummm, the Judicial Branch? The SCOTUS is the most conservative it's ever been. Moreover, the Democratic Party is spit between moderates and conservatives these days. For example, the Blue Dogs are pandering to their conservative base. That's hardly "controlling all levels of federal government," as you so eloquently put it.

[QUOTE="Dasacant"]These things are hardly confined to America.Gunnerman007

Europe is showing signs of an individualist resurgence, but it's to a much smaller extent than in the U.S. Western Europe is pretty much the best part of the world to be in right now, IMO.

and why is that?

It's an opinion, for one, but Western European countries have the most stable democracies in the world, not to mention the world's best healthcare, a far healthier populace than that of the U.S., and nudity is not nearly as much of an issue across the pond (they show breasts on primetime TV in the Scandinavian countries, for example). It's just a more open-minded, secular place.

I guess I'm the only SDTV gamer out there nowadays...:(

I play on a 27-inch tube TV, and it works fine, but I can't read any of the TEXT in MGS4. They really need to make it a better experience for SD gamers.

They're all ignoramuses. I choose all of them, and jam Ron Paul in there. :x

Keeping the world afloat is beneficial to us because every country is a potential trade partner. And we really don't have to exploit them either.

No, we're suppose to be isolationist.

The Nazi were a one time thing that I don't think could happen again.

We're not 'supposed' to be isolationist. Says who?
