Everyone is free to interpret as they will, but I do think there are lessons of equality to be found amidst the misogynistic, homophobic, and racist text.

-Sun_Tzu-

That might be true, but even if that were the case I'd argue that there are a plethora of better sources to learn lessons of equality from than the Bible.

Oh I wouldn't argue that. Dr Seuss weaves better moral storys more often than not.

[QUOTE="kingkong0124"]

[QUOTE="-Sun_Tzu-"] And was written by a slave owner. -Sun_Tzu-

Doesn't the Bible contain the equality of all?

No it doesn't. It's a very misogynistic, homophobic, and racist text.

I believe it does touch on equality actually.

"Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free. And you, masters, do the same things to them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in heaven, and there is no partiality with Him" (Ephesians 6:5-9).

Ignoring the blatent slavery it does seem to allude to the fact that no matter the socioeconomic status all men are judged equally. There is also:

"God shows personal favoritism to no man" (Galatians 2:6).

Everyone is free to interpret as they will, but I do think there are lessons of equality to be found amidst the misogynistic, homophobic, and racist text.

[QUOTE="kingkong0124"] I don't really care about the Catholic Church. I have yet to find something to convince me otherwise. kingkong0124

Umm how about your own book? All men are created equal =/= All men are genetically and physically the same. Bring your argument to your pastor and see what he thinks of your interpretation of the bible.

Calm down lol, That was a typo, stop holding it against me. I don't have a pastor by the way. I don't regularly attend church. Nice assumption, though.

You made a two sentence long typo?

[QUOTE="Wasdie"]

The Catholic Church even accepts evolution as the most likely reason why we are the way we are. What more do you need?

Note: They do say it all follows God's plan. Who's to say they are wrong with that one?

[QUOTE="Aljosa23"]

Obvious joke poster.

kingkong0124

I'm not joking. Give me a rational explanation. David Duke is basically claiming that White people are superior to Blacks because they were developed differently as they were geographically separated, just like the finches in the Galapagos. Unless, of course, maybe there's the idea that all men are and were created equal, that comes from Biblical texts, but knowing you, you will discredit it.

All men are created equal =/= All men are genetically and physically the same. These f*cked interpretations are why my respect for religion decreases every day.

No you.

I don't know why you even continue to troll me,but I'm done talking to you.

All I did was make the same "no you" retort you did. And all your fist post did was say you have no favorite. Why would you tell me to read that and think that it defends you now having a favorite.
