7.1 is pointless in most normal sized rooms.

Lossless audio is a pointless waste of space.

What? I suggest you go and actually listen to a real surround setup. I have Kef speakers (kht3005) and an Onkyo 705 receiver. The difference between lossless audio and plain old dolby digital is night and day. Heck, even when my Dad comes over (he can't hear worth anything--due to shooting too much without any hearing protection) he can tell a difference. If he can tell a difference, than anyone can.

You are telling him to go and listen to a "real" system. Than that depend on how you define "real" Becuse I would hardly ****you you just listed as a "real" system by my standards. And I know others that ****my standards as low.

Well, I can't see how you can't ****fy what I stated as a "real system"? It is the highest rated satalite speaker system on the market, and a pretty good receiver to boot. Sure, I could spend over a $100,000 and get some B&Ws and other crazy stuff, but there are probably like 3 people in the world that have something like that. What I have is a fantastic system at a price point that most adults with a decent job can afford. And you can easily discern lossless audio verses dolby digital on my system. Now if you are playing it on some junk $300 HTiB system, then you probably won't hear any difference.

I guess you could say a BMW M3 could be low to your standards, if you were comparing it to a Mclaren F1. Then again, who can afford the F1, where many people can afford the BMW and it is an amazing car.

[QUOTE="XH-Z22V3"]More than...even existjonnyt61
Sony have long taken the route of losses on hardware, and eventual profits in software. It usually pays off. Oh, and Blu-ray will most certainly cover that loss over it's lifetime. It will be the next optical media, in the same vein of DVD

Don't waste your time with this OP. Remember the old saying "Never argue with an idiot. He will drag your down to his level and beat you with experience."? And by the looks of it, this OP has lots and lots of eperience. He may have enough to qualify for his PhD.

[QUOTE="-M117-"] baby steps. Ever hear of the 3 generation MS plan? So far its working. -M117-

Let me hear this plan.

1st gen - get brand name out there 2nd gen - get superior developer support 3rd gen - win so far so good

If MS was really smart...they would have copied Sony's one generation plan. Sony accomplished all three of those things with the first Playstation. I personally doubt MS will ever win. The reason is that they have virtually no first/second party. To me...that is what makes sony so great, GOW, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet, GT, Warhawk, Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance, LBP, and the list can go on and on. All of those are must play, must own games.

MS has nothing to compare. All they do is throw a bunch of money at Epic and told them to make gears. Why not take that money and actually make some games internally. That is the only way they have a chance of winning and that is not how MS does business. All they ever do is buy everyone else out.

Dont at least some of you think Uncharted is way overated I do.

joegar

Overrated? WTF?!?! It is easily in my top three games of all time. It was low balled here at Gamespot with an 8 (which is no surprise). I give it a 9 to 9.5. Heck compare it to gears and you would see how severly underated it is. Which has better graphics...Uncharted, Better story...Uncharted, Gameplay...about even, Better voice acting...Uncharted, Most immersive...Uncharted, Online...Gears (as Uncharted is a single player only, and should stay as such), Replay value...while there are lots of unlockables in Uncharted, Gears wins do to multiplayer, more fun...this is subjecive but I call Uncharted.

Now I am not bashing Gears by any stretch, it is easily one of the best games this gen, I just thought Uncharted was a much better polished, immersive, and more fun game. So overrated.... Yeah, RIGHT!

What was it?

Samsung beating out Sony when it comes to LCD technology

Sony thought it would have their TV money to help through any rough spells with the PS3. They didn't expect to take a hit there as well and need to play catchup in yet another part of the electronics field

Jaysonguy

Huh? Samsung does not make better LCDs than Sony. Samsung is the one that has to catch up to Sony in the technology field. Sony's XBR6 is far superior to the Samsung 6 series. Sony's LED back lit xbr8 is far better than Samsung's 9 series. Etc. etc....etc. I am not sure where you were going with that.

Also, Sony is a huge developer in the OLED front which will be the TV of the near future. Currently, Plasmas mop the floor with LCDs and all the rest of the tv tech, but when OLEDs hit the mainstream, look out. Deeper blacks, truer color, 6mm thick, less power consumption, less heat, equals a major win.

And to those who think PS3 is going to fail, you guys are either nuts, stupid, or just getting kicks by making assinine statements. Over 20 million in sales says hello. And when the PS3 drops to $299 in the coming months, look out. No one is going to catch the Big N this gen, but don't be too surprised when the PS3 takes 2nd. Not that any of that matters. I never can understand why all of you people care what happens to systems you don't own.

i think 120hz monitors are expensive to ordinary monitors, and i don't think you can get any tv's at 120hz, i know 100hz is possible on alot of lcd and plasma screens. i think it's more of a pc thing in the next 2-3 year when 120hz monitors become the norm.Mckenna1845

There are many 120hz LCDs on the market. Sony w, z, and xbr series. Samsung 6, 7, 8, and 9 series. Heck, even the garbage vizios have a 120hz. I hope Sony makes this possible without having to buy one of those tvs, because for one...not many people own those or will purchase those just for this.

And 2--LCDs are not very good hdtvs at all. If you want the best picture go with a plasma, then rear pro, and lastly LCD. LCD has too many blurring issues and they don't have high enough black levels. Therefore the picture is washed out.

I would change the difficulty to easy, until you get used to the game. I grew furious with this game, as the first few missions were hard to get to. I would get killed way before I even reached the area where you were supposed to get in a firefight. All of those stupid gaurd posts would get me, or some random guy in the jungle.

However, after I set it on easy, I am now rolling thought the game. I got much better at spotting enemies, and understand how the game plays much better. NOw I am back to playing it on normal, and am having a lot of fun with it.

If it is not still under warranty, you could try to fix it yourself. Here is a link to a thread that tells you how to fix many problems that could happen with the PS3.
