Bottom line is this,

Slim has double the RAM the original does (64mb opposed to 32mb, much much faster loading times for games)

Slim has TV output now, so you can play PSP games on a TV/monitor so it then becomes more or less like a PS2.

Slim is much lighter and well, slimmer.

There really is no reason not to get a slim over the old one. Infact I don't think they sell the old ones anywhere any more. I've been having to return mine (twice so far) due to dead pixels and messed up analog. I returned one yesterday for my third PSP and this one has a FAT scratch on the screen (WTF?? must be factory screw up) so I gotta return it again. I'm really hoping to find a black slim but it's sold out everywhere so I've been returning and exchanging for the Daxter bundle lol. I'm kind of pissed though that I got 3 PSP's which are all screwed up. I got the worst luck with electronics. (Had to return an iPod twice as well due to alot of dead pixels on both) UGH!

Does it seem like an 8 or higher for a PSP is like a 9 for other consoles? I've played all these 8.0-8.5 games like syphon filter, jeanne d'arc and killzone: liberation and these games have the production value and just general awesomeness of 9+ type gamespot rated games. Are the editors afraid to give PSP games 9+ scores now or something? Seems like Daxter and Burnout Legends and MGS:PO which all came out a while back are the only ones and since then awesome games have come out but with undeserving scores. What gives?

I didn't say it SUCKS. I said it's an awesome and powerful machine. But I did say it's flopping due to pricing and bad game selection. I did realize I would get flame responses from some since if you spend close to a grand on a system and games and then read how others are saying its not absolutely amazing it will instigate some flaming response. But I am not trying to start a fight, I've been googling on this topic for a while.And seen all these magazines putting the PS3 on the top tech screwups of 2006 lists and others such as that etc. and am trying to figure out whats really going on with the PS3, if I should plan on getting one or not. Because to me the PS2 right now is looking pretty good due to price and the over 3,000 game selection.

Let's use our common sense here. With all the incredible content coming out this year such as Home, a wide variety of exclusives such as FF XIII, MGS4, Haze, Gran Turismo 5 and Eight Days, and the other systems will have their things as well...but not nearly as cool as the stuff that PS3 will have...tell me, who do you really think will win by the end of the decade? Sony is not losing money, look at all the extra content they're selling on the PS Store, that's what theyr selling in order to balanace the sales. rpgfreak15

According to wikipedia they sold only 5.59 million units while the Wii told 14 million. It does make it safe to say that the PS3 hasnt had a successful launch. Sony has lost just over 2 billion dollars already in the last year due to the sales of the PS3. The game sales have not made up for it yet. But you're right in the end that is the plan, and I really hope they game development kicks off becaues theres little incentive to spend 400-500$ on the PS3 at the moment. Once they start kicking out really good games, hopefully, then it should start balancing out.

Let's face it, Sony's losing $250-$300 per unit sold, and now with the price drop they are losingeven more. The game selection is horrible, the only 9.0 rated games on the PS3 are those that were on other consoles first. And the main reason behind why the games are crappy right now is everyone's hell bent on making the games look good cuz of this next-gen hardware and no one is focusing on actualy gameplay/mechanics (i.e Lair); primarily why the PS2 is still selling like a hotcake because of it's great gameplay focused titles.The only decent PS3exclusive game it has is Resistance. And it seems the plan was to lose money on consoles and make up for it with the titles. But it's been a year and nothing really great has come out yet. And I've recently checked outGRAW2 on the PS3 at a store and it looked horrible, the textures were so pixelated and the framerate was terrible! What gives? My buddy works forSonyand says it's mostycuz no one knowshow to properly code games for those cell processors yet. I'm assuming since they are all mostly made for the Xbox 360 style processorsand PS3 in second mind.But GRAW2 and Motorstorm (PS3 exclusive however)both have pretty nasty framerates. And I've read on PS3's hardware and it's pretty intense yet the games run pretty crappy, and dont look so good either.The PS3 was foreseen to have a market life of 7 years! Do you guys think it will eventually take off or will totally flop and kill Sony's financials?

I'm about to subscribe to an ISP, so far I've been aiming towards Verizon becaue they provide free equipment while AT&T requires you to pay 50-70$ for just a modem that converts your phone line to Ethernet. It says I can get 3 Mbps which is 768k download. But realistically what download speedscan I expect with 3 Mbps? Cuz it obviously never really is at it's max.

Well I started playing it since beta came out cuz I preordered Orange Box. So since september 18. Almost a month I guess. And yes games dont last longer than a month for me usually. Except a certain few. I remember Warcraft 3 lasted about 1.5 years, WoW lasted about 3 months LOL before I figured out it was eating me alive. TFC lasted about 2 years, CS 6 years on and off. But recently just games dont last for me. Short span of fun times. But I'm sure TF2 will be here for a while just cuz its TFC's successor and i loved TFC. But like I said I'm gonna be hooked on it for a while and I don't want all these god damn good games gettin the way! AHH! My girlfriend is gonna kill me in November I swear, as if I don't pay enough attention to my laptop screen as it is.

November = Gears of War for PC, Unreal Tournament 3, Call of Duty 4, Kane & Lynch, Assassin's Creed and Crysis! Where the hell is a person supposed to find time to play all that! I'm still hooked on Team Fortress 2 and I don't wanna start playing other games and forget about TF2 it's just too awesome. Yet I can't help it I know I'm gonna end up geting all those damn games and I will have no soul for the month of November, I will be consummmmeedd! AHHHHH!!!!
