[QUOTE="IQ138"] But, Zelda has been pretty much the same since OOT. foxhound_fox

You haven't played Majora's Mask, have you?

I don't know what changes I want. I just want to see an entire formula chance and the addition of an actual narrative that goes beyond "hero in green, get gems, get Master Sword, get more gems, get Tri-Force, beat Ganondorf, win." A modern or futuristic adaptation would be exceptionally intriguing, given that the "Hero of Time" can exist in any time period, and doesn't necessarily have to be a medieval fantasy setting. Steam-punk would be quite exciting.

you got me there:P yes, majora's mask is different than other zeldas.

It absolutely has to have voice acting. Actually, Twilight Princess should have had VOs. It's been too long, and there no excuse not to include it in this day and age.

the thing that I find strange is that back when OOT first came out, there was no voice acting. yet, it can still compete with many of the games today in how enjoyable it is. TP on the other hand, wasn't as enjoyable.

I think that though Zelda is an awesome series, from a game player's standpoint (not a reviewer). But, Zelda has been pretty much the same since OOT. However, because OOT was one of the greatest games I have ever played, that's not really a bad thing. There are few elements that make a Zelda game Zelda, but at the same time, it makes Zelda predictable to play, and not as interesting as if it was something I have never experienced, imo. You also gotta admit that Nintendo's hardcore game sales are in need of a great boost, so I'm sure they'll do something special with the next Zelda. I would personally like a Zelda with better character development, more detailed exploration, more violence, more complex themes deviating away from the good versus evil, new weapons... etc. So, what do you want to see in the next Zelda?

release in either late 2010 or during 2011... so if you round it off, it'd be 2011 no matter what :)

If Miyamoto made a new Starfox game with the Wii Remote, that'd be some seriously cool stuff. The only thing that I would be critical about is to ask how far they can take this concept and make it into a great game. imo, I think Miyamoto should stop trying to outdo himself and concentrate on Zelda!

[QUOTE="kontejner44"]

There's a reason I am a Nintendo fan and that's because I hate:

a) Realism

b) Story

c) Maturity

d) Online

Online I can understand, when it comes to competetive play. Maturity is just a preference.

What I don't get however is why a game is made realistic, even to the point where it dismisses great gameplay mechanics just for the sake of being realistic.

Also I don't understand the concept of a story in games. For me, their only function is to provide with a reason to make a game, or to potentially open up great gameplay. For the latter, see Red Alert 3 story. Basically, the intro (you have to watch it on youtube, it's hilarious) is just an excuse to have a third faction in the game. The cutscenes are just pure over the top parody along with some eye candy (the women!)

I don't think Nintendo is the only company that produces games that lacks realism, story, maturity save for online which is something defined well. How can you define realism? Is GTA realistic? No, it isn't. I have never played a game that is realistic. True, stories for most Nintendo games are not their strong points, but look at TP and Metroid Other M, this is a change Nintendo has been heading towards. And, maturity is a tough thing to define. An 8 year old playing Zelda is not mature, but an 8 year old playing GTA is not mature either. But, someone who is older and has experienced more in life would be able to appreciate both Zelda and GTA for their own uniqueness. As for online, I don't really care.

No game is realistic like you think I mean it. GTA4 is much more realistic than any Nintendo game. Compare how high Mario can jump vs Niko. Compare how fast a person in GTA4 can run vs Sonic. Compare the car physics of GTA4 with Trackmania, oh and the car doesn't break in TM, which it would do in reality, as it does in GTA4. Also, take a simulator vs arcade, I'd take arcade 90% of the time. Things like, my horse jumping 10 times higher than in reality in DW6, why does it do that? because you benefit from jumping over huge fences later in the game when your horse has leveled up enough and gained jump skill, lol.

I think you get the point. Also, there was some dude over at SW who complained that a punch in a FPS game killing a person isn't realistic. I am against that kind of realism. I want games to emulate the concept of reality (Gravity effects in SMG, conservation of momentun in Portal) but not to simulate them exactly as they would've been in reality because that's extremly boring, and will kill any potential of innovative gameplay. Reality is boring.

It's hard to draw a line where a game is considered mature or... not mature. There are levels of maturity, it's not 1 or the other. I'd say GTA is a mature game whereas Mario is more happy, not only in the artwork. I like parody, sillyness, over the top stuff. I can't stand serious 'mature' games.

Yeah I'm not ignorant I can see that they are taking steps towards storytelling. TP had some great cutscences, I'd love more of those. Now, I loved MGS4 because for its cinematical approach, the dialogue, the cutscenes, the jokes. I couldn't care less about the "story" itself. In fact that game's story is just nonsense. TP is more like that than a 'real' story.

Exactly. Because it is more realistic, it is more rediculous, thus, it is just as unrealistic. Who in the real world would commit such crimes and get away with it again and again? Just as GTA is impossible in real life, so is Mario. And when you are trying to measure realism, there is no numbers for measuring it, especially since even physicists nowadays are debating bunch of stuff you wouldn't believe (i'm not gonna go there... too complicated, lol). but yeah, ignoring realism, i hope that the next zelda will have a consistent theme. you guys notice how in the last few zeldas since OOT, its always been a sad ending with Ganondorf's death? it has gotten so predictable!

though its true that some games give out too much violence and other themes for its own good, i think Zelda could use a little bit of it. games like God of War seems to be all about killing, but in Zelda, you also have the calmness of exploration and the feelings of isolation. having a balance of violence, puzzles and the sense of isolation and the love for nature would make Zelda a better game because you get the sense that you are killing not for pleasure, but for justice (or something like that). It would produce a Zelda that would give the players all kinds of different emotional ranges. that kind of theme would be more mature than the evil versus good that has gotten so predictable in the previous Zeldas... every Zelda since OT has been too similar except for Windwaker which was pretty fresh. Zelda needs that kind of surprising change you wouldn't expect. I'm sure Nintendo may not make Zelda M for mature but they should at least surprise us and make the gameplay more balanced. Taking advantage of Wii Motionplus for more accurate cutting of the enemy's bodies would not be too far streched.
