[QUOTE="DJ_Lae"]Less exciting than Vesperia's release - the Tales games are extremely inconsistent in terms of quality and Vesperia was one of the few good ones. Getting Tales of Vesperia with extra content would have been great, and it's baffling they haven't done it yet (then again, most people who want to play that game have done so already and most of the new content isn't all that).roboccs
Since I never have and never will have a 360, I really need Vesperia to eventually come to ps3 in NA to ever play it. It's a game I always wanted to play. It looks great.

Well, we can always learn japanese and import. :)

[QUOTE="mrmusicman247"][QUOTE="gillri"]

out of those ME is the most important prequel to play by far

and Infamous being the least important

gillri

I'd say Infamous is more important than Uncharted :?

yes you might be right, i only played half of Infamous so maybe I shouldnt comment on it

I played all three games...

75 hours on ME (PC), Platinum on both Infamous and Uncharted Drake's Fortune... gues I can comment on them, and I do agree that InFamous would be the least important there (It all falls to personal tastes in the end though).

  • ME is a impressive game, and even though I'm on my fourth run, there is always some little piece of history that I did not tackle before, or a mission that I overlooked...
  • Uncharted is a great game, with stunning graphics and a likable history. The controls are responsive, and the action is quite good. Sadly, after the first run, it does get kinda boring (Playing on crushing difficulty made it for some fun in the combat...).
  • Infamous. I really like this game, but it's developers commited a great sin on it... repetitive side quests (The good and evil quests have some flair of uniqueness, but all the rest falls into boredom quickly). Having extra power to charge your powers is always good... but it comes by collecting "Blast Shards", and I pitty you if you intend to collect them all (I did it... it was maddening).

I guess I "was" catholic sometime in my childhood, but currently there is no specific religious dogma I addere to. I believe in the existence of God and thas it.

Therefore, my religion (or lack of any) does not influence my gaming habits in any conceivable way.

  • Strong language? Sure, why not, people use it in everyday life, as long as it's not overused in the game I don't mind it.
  • Nudity? Depends on context, but no, I don't mind it either.
  • Violence? Everyday I turn the tv on and watch the news (Or read certain newspapers) I'm overflowed with info (And videos in the case of the tv) on violence. Videogames merely reflect this characteristic of humanity, as we are (sadly) a violent lot by nature.
  • Gore? I don't mind it... really.
  • Moral choices on the game? Great! I usually go for the good run through first, and the evil on the second.

In the end I don't believe that God worries a bit with my gaming habits...

PS.: Even though this topic should go better on the GGD (Maybe), it's refreshing to see how civil and orderly people are responding to it here. Way to go everyone. :)

Apparently a test was carried out that established a link between violent videogames and aggressive behaviour. This could lead to a new medical label on games that reads:"WARNING: Excessive exposure to violent video games and other violent media has been linked to aggressive behavior." I think its incredibly ludicrous to link these types of behaviour to real life personalities. People are born with these minds and are moulded from very early ages by their parents during their key cerebral development. Not by videogames.

Full article here: (it won't allow me to link for some reason)

I've seen this kind of statement many times already. This alleged link/evidence must be fruit of some kind of ample research, or else can't be considered scientifically valid.

Also, would anyone be kind enough to point me a link to any said researchs (or tell me which terms I should google for), for if it's worthy a "medical label", I would be quite interested in checking said data.

If its wrong to play being 29... what would you say about someone who is 31 (like me)?

Games are a legitimate and socially accepted entertainment media for all ages, not being even close to the stigma it had on the late 80s and 90s (You sure remember those days, where videogames were only for "kiddies").

better then nothing.

and it's certainly better then just a checklist thing of marking down what decisions you made.

still gonna enjoy the hell out of it.

No It's not..... Their's a saying do it right or don'r do it at all. How do they expect people to get into ME if they down play the vermire mission so much?

Can't be helped, Microsoft owns the publishing rights to the first game so this is the best PS3 owners are gonna get. I'm pretty sure they're just glad to be able to even play Mass Effect 2 period.

The best a PS3 owner can get... is getting the PC or XBOX360 version... or don't get the game at all.

No game is better than a half assed ettmpt at a port.

I have various "favourites"... one for each system I own(ed)...

Atari 2600

  • Game: Pitfall!
  • Why: Platforming goodness unparalled for the time.

NES

  • Game: Contra
  • Why: Platforming at it's best. The game was brutal, unfair even, against the player, but once you managed to memorize the paterns and spawning of the enemies, the sense of acomplishment of finishing a game sequence was grand.

Genesis

  • Game: Shinig Force (And Shining Force two).
  • Why: First turn based strategy games I played on a console. As I grew older (By than I should have something around thirteen and fifteen respectively), I got more and more interested in games that made me think, as oposed to the rote hand-eye coordination needed on platformers.

Playstation

  • Game: Tactics Ogre
  • Why: Turn based strategy with a history that gave the player freedom to choose their own path... (To follow the orders of your superior or to topple said superior and grasp the power for yourself... kill an entire village on cold blood and make it look like an attack from a neighboring country or refuse on raiding the vilage and go rogue on your quest...). There where many choices to make, along the whole game, that affected the outcome of everything that you'd do later...
  • Honorable mention goes to: Final Fantasy VII (and VIII), Metal Gear Solid,Resident Evil Director's Cut,Syphon Filter and Tenchu.

Playstation 2

  • Game: Disgae Hour of Darkness
  • Why: Again, turn based strategy, but this time with a flair of sillyness and "bad" jokes that made me like the game almost instantly.
  • Honorable mention goes to: Grand Theft Auto Vice City, Onimusha and The Godfather.

Playstation 3

  • Game: Valkyria Chronicles
  • Why: Turn based strategy, whith anime-like appearance and an interesting history... what is there not to like?
  • Honorable mention goes to: Assassin's Creed series, Dragon Age Origins, Uncharted series and Vanquish.

PC (The only one that defies this chronological order I placed on this list... I've been playing PC since 1987).

  • Game: Civilization (I own 2, 4 and Colonization)
  • Why: Guess what? Turn based strategy! THough it lacks on history, the game mechanics is compelling enough to make me return for more, always.
  • Honorable mention goes to: Mass Effect, Simcity (The original one), Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (both) and Theme Hospital (Silly and bugy, but nice to play).

Since it still requires internet connection to start the game up, it still cuts at least half of my playing time away (since I not always have internet access handy).

Solution: Won't buy their games for my PC yet... (Interestingly enough it still only cripples gaming for people who bought the games... pirates can play freely... yeah, this "new" DRM is still working wonders in making me wish to support them).

Kill: CoD

Ressurrec: Any of the following titles.

  • Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (No crappy MMO please).
  • Dino Crisis
  • Fear Effect
  • Front Mission (Strategy game, no crappy "3rd person mech shooter" please)
  • Soul Reaver
  • Syphon Filter (Something along the line of the two first games)
  • Vagrant Story
  • Bully
  • Onimusha
  • The Legend of Dragoon

On a side node, kill final fantasy to bring back final fantasy was brilliant.
