If there's one thing that makes me angry in SW, it's all the ignorant fanboys who A - haven't played Wii, B - Played one or two games on it for an hour and think they know all about the wiimote, C - Call it a gimmick because of mini-game titles, completely ignoring the games that employ the Wiimote well.

The fact is, some hardcore gamersare naturally better at button twiching than moving their wrists (and arms, but only if you're a n00b or like playing Wii Sports all out). This even seems the case with gaming journalists, including gamespot - some fat editors are good at pushing buttons but not moving their arms and wrists at the same time (certain sit down to play Wii Sports and wonder why they suck) Other hardcore gamers can adapt, and after the learning curve, really appreciate the depth offered by motion control (EG: Excite Truck, Red Steel) when you're "hardcore" enough to master it.

Are there games where controls are tacked on? Yes. Are there games where the developer has chosen a bad control scheme? yes. But there are many which are really fun and deep, which are enhanced by motion controls. Nintendo is leading the way, and surprisingly, EA has many very solid titles already out, and on the way.

There's a learning curve for developers with the Wiimote, but there are many that have already gotten it right, and Wii already has more than a few quality exclusives.

My favorite use of the Wiimote so far is Excite Truck.

So, you can have your own opinion about the Wii, just don't think you can have a valid one after a short time with one game, or only a couple crappy games, or maybe you just suck at motion controls.

I love traditional controller games, just don't hate on the Wiimote when you don't have enough experience with it to judge.

I agree that the wii mote is cool but it has to few buttons in my opinion, it seems to me that the wiiwas primarily desgined to make minigames however I didnt buy the wii for rpgs or whatever I got it so me and my buddies can hangout. However on average I still feel that the PS3/360 controllers work teh best as it allows all genres to be easily expresses.

Ok so yesterday I took the plunge and got a wii. now I still believe that the wii is overpriced but hey I wasnt going to wait forever, with sales as they are now we wont see a price drop for a long time.

So now I am wondering exactly what I should get for my wii, being by no means informed about the wii lineup I need help. To sum up my gaming preferences I would say I love FPS like UT and Halo however appreciate the fun things like mario kart offers. Also just not to wacky like wario ware. I know that I will most likely have to wait to get any good games but I am a patient person.

Another problem I have is hardware, I am wondering exactly how many controllers would be best and whether I need numchucks for all of them. Also if anyone knows how to go on the internet using ethernet cables that would be very appreciated, (I have wireless however I find it slow and I really enjoy using the browser but videos are really slow. Also is usb keyboards compatible with the wii, I tried my wireless keyboard hooked to my 360 and it didnt want to work.

Basically any advice that you might have on the wii is greatly appreciated except if you just want to make fanboyish comments, I own a 360 and wii now and most likely wont get a PS3 because of price and unappealing games (In my opinion you are welcome to yours) and anything you people say arent going to change that so dont even try

hate to break it to the TC but the wii is really just a last gen console with a new facelift and controller. Paying $250 for hardware that should cost no more than $199 even with wii sports is pure milkage from nintendo. However it is still fun just over priced for what you actually get. Also on a side note to manufacture a wii mote would cost less than $10-15 and that including the numchuck, so that shouldnt increase price

Everybody always talks about the "HALO" killer. To be honesy halo has already been killed. When Halo 2 came out in 2004 at the same time Half 2 came out. And everybody knows Half2 Destroyed Halo2. Even though GS gave Halo 2 a better score which was lame but Half2 is the FPS to beat not Halo. Halo sells well because of its marketing not because its a great game. So HL2 is the FPS other developers should be trying to defeat.

On PC yes, consoles I would give it to halo hands down.

Come on Guys lets face the facts the ps3 is a more appealing console to casuals due to it's innovative Qualities , The 360's controller does not have motion sensing controller unlike the ps3's sixaxis which will be definitely used in killzone 2 to create a more immersive Experience compared to the old fashioned Gameplay of halo and lets not even mention the graphics if you watch kz2's trailer you'll know what im talking about .

I believe KZ2 will sell more copies than H3 and im sure of it's system selling capabilities too...

Ps im hyping kz2 to be AAA :)

AgentA-Mi6

The only problem with that is that the casuals you talk about wont even consider KZ2, Halo is mainstream, although not impressive in sales, almost everyone has played the game and will buy the game if they happen to own a 360.

Possible, but pretty hard. How so? Devs flock to the sales, and the lesser the sales, the less support the system garners.... yoshi_64

well look at the 360 it is being beat by the wii in sales but many developers see the 5+ attach rate and still develop for the 360 because even though less people have 360s, poeple with 360s buy the most games. i think that most likely the wii will have the least amount of AAA on the system because of its mainstream appeal however that wont stop sales of hardware.

Smash Bros, since the Wii will have outsold the 360 by the time it comes out and more people like it in general anyway, since its actually a good game.DSgamer64

Please keep away frompointless bashing with no evidence to support your claim but piles of evidence to support the claim that the Halo franchise is of very good quality, such as scores or overall reviews.

omgg ppl that are xbox fans are sooo dumb, it hasnt failed its been out for 6months and has been doing well. it sold more systems in the first 3 months the xbox360 did in its fist 3 months. It will have way better games in the next 6months then xbox360. and if you say halo 3 i say metal gear solid. IT WILL BE THE MOST WANTED CHRISTMAS PRESENT THIS WINTER. And one last thing ps3 has more power then the xbox360 and in a year production companys are going to want to utilize that full power so even more games are going to be released on it.

PS3s first year will be better then xbox360s first year

one more thing, xbox had 3 good games come out for it in the first year, gears of war, oblivion, and nhl(not counting shared games) and a couple borderline games. In the next 6 months for xbox 360 all it has comming out is Halo which is a great game but id rather use my ps3.

the ps3, in 6months, has so far resistance, and oblivion(i agree its a bad list) but in the next 6 months they have soooo many great games comming out, haze, mg4s(maybe), heavenly sword, socom, warhawk, army of 2, playstation home, lair, ninga gaiden sigma, and final fantasy XIII.

so ps3s first year which is only half way done will be better then xboxs. I am also sorry if i missed i few games or if i said games that are comming out for both

mattyomo99

You do realize that both MGS and FF arent coming out in the next 6 months that leaves what a few mediocre PS3 games. Xbox has Mass effect, Bio shock, Halo 3 etc. You are saying that the first year for the PS3 will be better yet as it stands right now they wont even have a huge AAA like GeoW so what your point. The fact is that the 360 is heading much stronger than PS3 with games than most expected.

P.S. You claimed that youre excluding all multiplats yet you mention oblivion? Also how is Home (a feature) considered a game, not to mention it most likely wont launch in your time frame could be wrong

..... Consoles get Auto-aim and Aim-assit PC doesnt.

GunSmith1_basic

us wii owners wont have to put up with that. There is auto aim, but free aim is better. All we need are the games. As of now we only have a mini game on monkey ball and a the poorly made redsteel, CoD3, and FarCry to flex our FPS muscle. A couple of those games have glimmers of greatness in the controls, though. In a couple of years the wii will have plenty of great FPSes, with spastic online action im sure.

I am sorry but that is one of the reasons FPS for the wii wont be amazing Nintendo cant make good online experiences they add to much stuff like friend codes since 80% of their library is aimed at mainly
