Nope, not at all. I went in expecting a great game, not a perfect one, and that's what I got. I didn't let myself get intoxicated by all the 10's and I wasn't disapointed. It's not without its flaws and frustrations, and after finishing the single player campaign I knew I wouldn't be touching the game again for a LONG time, but the 50 hours I spent with the game was more positive than negative.

The biggest disapointments of the year got to Too Human and Haze. Even if you were disapointed by GTA IV, those other 2 are not even close to being in the same league.

[QUOTE="Ninten007"]Why has Gamespot not reviewed this game yet? DJCUEBALL

I can pretty much tell you that GS will probably give it a 5.5 or a 6. In general, I've noticed they score it half or 1 point below IGN.

If this happens, I'll laugh my ass off. I've been playing for a few hours now, and IGN's score was totally unwarranted. They dropped the ball, plain and simple. If GS goes lower, I'll have to assume they barely even played the game.

If you listen to the reviewer for IGN, it sounds as if he had some kind of vendetta against this game long before he got his hands on it. Methinks he was a Silent Hill fanboy who was pissed off about the change in developers.

I know it's just an opinion, blah, blah, blah, but this game is NOT a 6.7. How they can justify this score, while giving Dark Sector a 7.7 for repetitve gameplay and a throw-away story is beyond me. I've finished Dark Sector, and while it isn't a bad game, there's no way it's better than Silent Hill Homecoming.

The reason why i think ps3 owners might be worried is because before it seemed that just a few gaems would require an install like DMC4, but now it seems more and more games are requireing an Install. This could become a problem space wise.

Thats why i think ps3 owners might be worried.

This would only be a problem if you were constantly switching between 15+ games at any given time. Who does that? Most people sell or trade their games when they're done with them, and people who keep their games(like me) usually aren't playing more than 2 or 3 at a time anyway. I don't see this as any kind of problem.

From the looks of things the Eurogamer revier is at the low end of the scale

This isn't a Ninja Gaiden 2 situation where AA scores seem to be the norm. I am a bit worried by some of Eurogamer's criticisms though and the fact that sites have been banned from talking about cutscene length

cutscenes are the worst thing about MGS games

gameruk2010

MGS games are mostly aimed at mature gamers who can appreciate the game for what it is, MGS game without the mega cut scenes is not MGS, and I for one who invested large amount of my time playing almost every MGS game to know the story inside out, couldn't be happier with the reported long cut scenes.

Right on, bud. Couldn't have said it better.

My main gripe with the game is the repetitve missions. You're either storming a building and gunning down a bunch of enemies, or you're chasing someone halfway around the city. There were a couple of unique missions, but the vast majority fall into one of those two descriptions. I finished it, and clocked over 50 hours total, but it will be a long time before I feel motivated to dive in again.

On so many other levels, this game is fantastic and definetly breaks new ground. As an industry benchmark, the 10's are understandable, but my own personal enjoyment of the game didn't quite measure up to that kind of a score. While not as technically proficient, there are at least a couple of other games I've enjoyed more this gen, with Mass Effect and Ninja Gaiden Sigma being the first to come to mind.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma so far, but GTA IV may surpass that.

Wherever God of War, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Grand Theft Auto, and Gran Turismo are, is where I will play. I never get sick of these games. And I still dont get what the 'big' MS exclusives are. COD4 is bigger then Halo 3 already. And every other 360 game has a superior PC version. I mean maybe its because I am old, but if I wanted to play those 360 games that are supposed 'exclusives' I would play them on a gaming rig. Final Fantasy, MGS, GT, and God of War are the reason I HAVE to have a ps3, and Smash Bros Brawl and Galaxy are the reasons I HAVE to have a wii. But MS doesnt have that kind of power because it keeps copping out and porting to the pc.Dr_DudeMan

I have to agree, even though I own a 360/PS3 and not a Wii.

I don't like the term "hardcore" because it implies some kind of obsession. But there is a difference between casual gamers, and those who are considered "hardcore". I was casual up until last year. I used to buy a couple of games a year for my PS2, and those were usually games that I found by advertising. I never checked reviews or game sites.

There is always going to be the "casual" segment of the hobby, they will always be the majority, and the games that are marketed to them aren't going to be the Okami's or the Ico's. Casuals are going to identify a what a game is with proven franchises and with what their friends are playing(and odds are they will be casuals too). Those of us who appreciate games like Ico or Okami do so because we've played most of the "mainstream" stuff to death, including all the generic re-hashes, and we're looking for a change. Casuals buying 2 games a year don't need a change, because just buying ANY game is a change of pace in itself. That's how it was for me, anyway.
