[QUOTE="agentfred"]I think an 8.5 is entirely possible. I think a lot of people are getting caught up in the hype, and are hyping it for all the wrong reasons. "it's Blizzard", and "it's Starcraft" might seem like good reasons, but they aren't. foxhound_fox

Given the reception of the changes to WarCraft III from the general community, I wouldn't be surprised if StarCraft II turns many people away from Blizzard. The game has so much to live up to, there is no way it cannot be disappointing.

Whenever a game generates massive hype, it almost never lives up to it. Starcraft II won't be an exception to this (probably).

WTF is wrong with Data Design Interactive? All their Wii games look horrible. Are they even trying?Wanderer5

No, but they still make a profit because they can trick people into buying it with the box art. Couple that with the incredibly low production cost of the game and they are actually making money doing this.

"Unlocking new locations (or sub-areas of previously visited locations) by obtaining new items is a total cliche now... and it was in 1998, too."

Are you kidding me? Honestly, this word "cliche" has gotten cliche now. That's just... a part of video games!!! Finding new items to unlock new locations. I LOVE that! Whether it's in Metroid or Zelda or most adventure games. And they're saying that this is a bad thing? That it's "cliche"? What's next, "oh, shooter games that have guns are cliche because so many games have guns". Give me a break.

I'll repeat: The word "cliche" has become cliche.

death919

Well if that is just a part of videogames, then wouldn't they be justified in saying it is not revolutionary?(in that aspect)

I enjoy Gears 2. Sure the story is bad, but I don't play Gears for it's story. Though I do hate how it has a ton of unexplained plot points that only exist to promote the next installment.

Most of these games are not out yet. I reserve almost all judgment until the game is released to the public.

Except for Sonic. Anyone who thinks that will be good is in serious denial.

Well, you could say that the games nostalgia factor is fading. Personally I never found OoT to be that great but that's mostly due to me not being a big fan of Zelda games in general.

I think the problem lies with the lack of originality with jrpgs, whereas alot of western rpgs offer something fresh and new to gamers, so alot of western consumers (I cant talk for those in asia) are getting tires witht he same old formulae. There are alot of articles surrounding the topic online...dark_k

A lot of JRPGS just seem so similar to each other, which is why I prefer WRPGS over them.

Mario Kart Wii is much more fun when you play it with other human beings.
