Maybe you're already tired of updates, but this blog needed anyway more regulate updates and well... This morning I've finished the Maths exam and tomorrow morning I'll do the last exam - Geography. Someone said on one of my previous blogs that he was amazed I can choose my subjects or something like that. Well, if you meant this, the third exam can be given for either Geography or History. The Maths and the Romanian exams are "must-have", so to speak. Like I said, I've prefered Geography and I am so familiar with all the Geography stuff that I don't need to "rehearse" until tommorow. I'll do that though because I want to have a high mark at this exam. :)
On my last blog, someone said that I must like racing games a lot. Well, I simply like racing games, but I can't say that the NFS series are like my favorite ones. Back in 2002 when Hot Pursuit 2 was released, I couldn't found anything of the pleasure I had in the previous NFS installments (High Stakes/Road Challenge, for instance). Everything seemed crappy to me, and even though I am now replaying it and think it's fun, still it isn't half the game the "old-school" NFS fans are praising so often even after so many years. After that, I remember that I was very excited when NFS: Underground arrived, but there was something in the game that really determined me to ignore the next installments in the series. No, it wasn't the tuners or the night-only environments, it was the utterly irritating "drag" racing mode. It was impossible for me to get used to the annoying manual transmission so I abandoned the game after several tries of beating the first drag race in the game. I always thought that developers should let us choose between those two types of transmissions and not force to use one of those if we don't like it. Tell me, how relaxing it is to have to pay attention to the gears, to your opponents, to the track and to the cops in the same time?... I've started Underground 2 because I've read in previews that you could focus on a specific type of races so that you won't have to play all the racing modes if you don't want to. I was disappointed to see that after completing the first non-drag races, no other race was unlocked so technically I had to beat the first drag race in order to advance... I abandoned the game as well, maybe too early. Afterwards, I've rented the Xbox version of Most Wanted but don't remember too much out of it... I already had Carbon for some while on my harddisk, but only few months ago I've tried to get into it... And well, it was really fun. No drag races (well, anyway, Palmont City isn't the perfect city for drag competitions...), lots of neon lights all over the city, hilarious cop chases, not-so-hilarious heat 4/5 cop chases, the simple posiblity of cruising through the town late at night... Many think that Carbon is the worst post-Underground game to date; I'd say that it reignited my interest for the series. The future doesn't look too bright with ProStreet in the event horizon, but I might aswell replay all the NFS games I didn't really played... Maybe I could finally get used to the manual transmission from drag races...
