I didn't know winning was simply a matter of sales, if the PS2 had no games worth playing would you still have said it won?

It got so many worthwhile games because of the sales. Publishers go where the customers are.

I think more need to be announced to convince others that third parties are really on board.karicha9
The only convincing anyone should need are the Japanese sales numbers. Any publisher that wants to sell any home console games in Japan is going to have to release Wii games. Xbox 360 is not relevant and PS3 is going completely GameCube. DS ate PS2's software sales. The strongest Sony platform in Japan right now and for the forseeable future is the PSP, which will always be a distant second to the DS, especially where software sales are concerned. DS: PSP is 3:1 in hardware but 6:1 in software in that region.
In short, Nintendo has the software market of the entire Japanese region under their thumb in much the way that Sony did with their PlayStation at the start of the last generation. Moreso, actually, because the Gameboy brand was stronger in software then than the PSP is now.
Wii is *still* supply constrained. It's shattered expectations. At the current rate of production and sales the userbase will be unstoppably viable within months. Microsoft has lowered their shipment forecast and Nintendo is working to increase production. Wii will be the global leader well before the start of the end-of-year holidays.
Actually I would argue that you should short Nintendo's stock, but that's just me.mikemil828
Argue it then. Don't just say you would.
Crap games selling will only lead to more crap. flashattackfina
Incorrect. Crap games sell in the absence of superior product. They are a signal of demand and represent an opportunity for superior product to sell better. Wii's userbase is expanding so quickly that it is already possible to profit from an expensive, large-budget project. Publishers didn't predict the Wii to be this viable so soon, so they are scrambling to catch up. You'll see the result of this beginning in the last half of this year and the first half of next.
[QUOTE="PoisonMushroom6"][QUOTE="samusarmada"][QUOTE="Bread_or_Decide"][QUOTE="samusarmada"]wii play comes with a free remote.Bread_or_Decide
You mean the remote comes with a free wii play.
$5 is too much for Wii Play.
Not according to the sales. Hahaha.
Or rather, to state the matter with as much precision as I can bring to bear:
The demand for Wii remotes exceeds the supply, to where consumers are willing to purchase the remote bundled with a game in order to obtain a remote. So much so that the game is propelled to massive sales numbers.
And they enjoy it. Or at the very least, don't mind becoming the owners of repackaged R&D byproduct.
Buy Nintendo stock while it's still within the realm of sanity.
It's not because of those games sheep,it's because the controller appeals to the masses and casulas are gobbling Wii's up every second.blacktorn
Your bitter tears are delicious.

and are you sheep serious about Mario Party 8? One of the signs of a drought is if the fanboys hype EVERYTHING that's coming out for the system, regardless of potential qualitymikemil828
You'd better believe we're serious about Mario Party 8. Mario Party has sold consistently well for nearly a decade. But wait, what's that I hear? The Wii is just a system for casuals to play party games on, not for real gamers?
Well, Mario Party is the Madden of party games. And now it's on the Wii. It will sell.
No, both games are using nearly identical sales strategies. It's not really about selling multiple editions of the game to the same customer, although they benefit quite a bit from that. It's about the fact that no-one wants to buy a football game with last year's roster, and no-one wants to buy last year's party game. Keeping the releases current is what brings in new customers to these franchises and keeps them healthy.

If that makes PM:TTYD a sidescroller, FFVII must be a submarine combat game.
