[QUOTE="Hoffgod"][QUOTE="da1on2"][QUOTE="Hoffgod"][QUOTE="Nike_Air"]hoffgod , we don't use gamerankings

MikeE21286

I used GameRankings to get a general concensus. I could do this with GameSpot scores, but it would be skewed, as GS is VERY generous towards the PSP in its rankings. GameRankings: AAA: 1 AA: 29 GameSpot: AAA: 5 AA: 46 Notice a bit of a difference? Besides, the results would still be largely the same. You'd be adding in lots of stuff like Sid Meiers Pirates!, Sega Genesis Collection, Def Jam: Fight For New York, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, and so on.

Actually, no it's just that different sites have different opinions on what is AAA on the sistem, while most DS games that are AAA are generallyy agreed on my most sites just like how Loco Roco is a 7.9 here but AAA at other places as a matter of fact, if you go to most of those individual sites, DS and PSP usually have the same amount of AAA

I understand. However, just looking at this from a statistical analysis point of view, I'd rather be using a sample with a larger number of inputs (GR) than a smaller one (GS). When I say GS has been generous to the PSP, I'm not saying it's biased towards the PSP, I'm saying in the bell curve of ratings, they're on the right side of the graph.

HAHA you know what buddy, I'm a statistics major and that just made my day. Good work, and I love the knowledge.....most here probably have no idea what the bell curve is.

lol, i'm all too familiar with the bell curve

lets just say its helped me out quite a bit throughout the years

[QUOTE="BobbyBobby85"][QUOTE="DireToad"][QUOTE="BobbyBobby85"]

[QUOTE="DireToad"]The DS has its fair share of ports and remakes too.
Sheep seem to forget about them though because the PSP's graphics makes everything look like a PS2 port while the DS graphics don't make you think GC.

And anyways, the PSP has a lot more diversity when it comes to genres.
Close to 1/3 of the DS' AAA and AA games are 2D side scrollers. Innovation FTW.
DireToad

Made up statistics FTL. Elit Beat Agents? Advance Wars? Trauma Center? Phonex Wright? Metroid Hunters? Brain Age? Hotel Dusk? Yeah, those are some of my favorite 2D sidescrollers...

AAA
Mario Kart DS
Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Nintendogs
Yoshi's Island DS
New Super Mario Bros.

AA
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Elite Beat Agents
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Metroid Prime: Hunters
Kirby: Canvas Curse
Meteos
Tony Hawk's American Sk8land
Animal Crossing: Wild World
Super Mario 64 DS
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
Age of Empires: The Age of Kings
Metroid Prime Pinball
Sonic Rush
Nintendogs: Dalmatian and Friends
Hotel Dusk: Room 215
Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis
Bomberman Land Touch!
Clubhouse Games

Let's see...
Out of 24 games, 7 are 2D side scrollers.
That makes 29% which would mean that...

Close to 1/3 of the DS' AAA and AA games are 2D side scrollers. Innovation FTW.

I guess you just fail at math huh?

No, I just don't waste my time looking up scores from one site and trying to use them against users in an attempt to "own" people. Like I said before, I don't go by GS scores, and BTW Many of the DS sidescrollers are hella overrated (beside POR of course). Alternatively, if you look at the rest of DS's library, you'll see that there are a great number of highly original games, as opposed to the PSP which consists of lots of ports and sports.

Well geez I thought we were having an argumentative discussion here.
Sorry for bringing up proof for my sayings. :|

I guess then it's easy for you to say that the PSP's library consists of ports and sports without bothering to look it up for yourself.

lol owned

blindly making a bold statement like "1/3 of the DS AA/AAA lineup are side-scrollers" without looking up the facts just makes you look downright foolish

Well, from looking at the PSP games you listed, I think these games would all fit in.
mario kart.
animal crossing
mario64
new super mario bros
final fantasy
mega man
yoshi's island.
castlevania
metroid hunters

Brown52

obviously you have no idea what a port is

mario kart, super mario bros DS, mega man, yoshi's island, castlevania, and metroid prime hunters are SEQUALS

by your logic, if those are ports - then the new FF 13 is going to be a port for the PS3, halo is 3 is a port for the 360, MGS 4 is a port, devil may cry 4 is a port - you get the idea

i can't believe people still don't understand the difference between a port and a sequel

LOL

He said it is a fact that the PlayStation 3 inventory is "stacking up worldwide" because it's too expensive and doesn't have the right games. He said Sony made too big a bet on Blu-ray and on the price that the consumer is willing to pay for gaming http://blogs.mercurynews.com/aei/2007/02/dice_interview_.html

I have to say Wii360 is turning out to be a sucess!

[QUOTE="Carmilla31"]Im sick of all these 'just wait for the games to come out' stories. Ive been hearing the same thing for the PSP since 2005. Lets take a look see... -Just wait for the PSP to come out and be the 'Gameboy killer.' -Just wait for the PSP to start getting some good games. -Just wait for the PSP to get Grand Theft Auto. -Just wait for the PSP to get Metal Gear Solid. -Just wait for a price drop on the PSP. All of those didnt help the PSP one bit and every one of the those can be compared to the PS3... ex: vs Wii, MGS4, price drop, etc. Why does the PS3 get to 'wait' for games to sell but the other two consoles dont? The 360 outsold at launch with pretty much nothing but DOA4. The Wii is outselling into its 4th month with pretty much nothing but Zelda. So why does the PS3 have to 'wait' to justify its current dilemma?

i don't know what your talking about

the cows already have their killer app AAA editor's choice PS3 exclusive - "The Waiting Game"

cows have been enjoying it ever since the PS3 launch

We all know Sony has been taking a lot of bad press from the PS3, but lets take a look back at the year that has lead us to the Nov. 17th release date.

First, we start with Sony itself. Yes, I was going to only make a timeline of the PS3 news, but how can you ignore this arrogance from late 2005?

Nov. 10th, 2005 - Sony is caught hiding a rootkit inside music CD's that place a virus on users computer. Sony's Tom Hesse defends the decision by stating that people don't know what it is, so they shouldn't care

Now that we know Sony cares about us, lets move on to the PS3...

Feb. 27th, 2006 - Sony misses it's Spring launch date
May 8th, 2006 - Sony holds it's E3 conference announcing the pricing of the PS3 at $600/$500
May 8th, 2006 - New PS3 controller will have six degrees of motion, but no rumble feature. Sony's Phil Harrison states that rumble was last gen and no longer needed.
May 31st, 2006 - Sony's Phil Harrison denies copying the Wiimote and states that the PS3 will replace the PC
Sept 6th, 2006 - PS3 is delayed in Europe until March 2007
Sept 6th, 2006 - PS3 launch shipment is cut from 2 million to 400,000 in the US (100,000 to Japan)
Sept 8th, 2006 - Sony's President admits that the company's hardware is in a current state of decline
Sept 26th, 2006 - PS3 first-party titles announced to be the same price as third party titles, at $59.99
Sept 26th, 2006 - Square Enix will not exclusively support Sony's PS3 as much as they did with the PS2.
Sept 29th, 2006 - Sony's President Ken Kutaragi states that his company does not care about the Xbox 360 and Wii competition.
October 12th, 2006 - Sony Exec calls the 360 and Wii "too expensive"
October 19th, 2006 - The infamous spec sheet comparison and how Sony claims the Xbox 360 requires HD-DVD to play games
October 20th, 2006 - Announced that Sony may have to replace your PS3 controller for you after it no longer holds charge
October 24th, 2006 - Sony sinks Lik-Sang
October 26th, 2006 - Sony's Q2 profits decrease by 94%
October 30th, 2006 - PS3 will push Sony $1.71 billion into the red
October 31st, 2006 - Japan launch of the PS3 is cut to 80,000 units
Nov 8th, 2006 - Sony ships without update. You must update your PS3 out of the box in order to use PlayStation Network
Nov 9th, 2006 - NBA Live 2007 is cancelled on the PS3
Nov 9th, 2006 - Oblivion is pushed back from launch title to Jan 2007
Nov 10th, 2006 - Sony's Phil Harrison states that he can no longer confirm a March 2007 launch for Europe
Nov 11th, 2006 - PS3 launches in Japan and rewards few
Nov 11th, 2006 - Sony unprepared for Japan launch
Nov 14th, 2006 - Sony will miss 400,000 unit target for the US. Approx 150k to 200k will be shipped for launch
Nov 14th, 2006 - PS3 has backwards compatibility problems
Nov 16th, 2006 - PS3 downscales 720p games instead of upscaling to 1080i
Nov 16th, 2006 - Sony's Jack Tretton comments on the PS3 BC problems and states that the Wii has 0 backwards compatibility
Nov 20, 2006 - NYT not impressed with PS3
Nov 21, 2006 - PS3, PSP Rainbow Six held till '07
Nov 23, 2006 - Saving Sony, one console at a time

Nov 26, 2006 - Bloomberg: Sony missed PS3 ship targets

Dec 8, 2006 - Court rules for Immersion; Sony to pay up
Dec 11, 2006 - Industry watchers weigh in on "record-low tie ratios" for Wii and PS3 and other results from the month of the new systems' debut.
Dec 19, 2006 - Time says PS3 was a bust
Dec 21, 2006 - Virtua Fighter 5 dukes it out on Xbox 360

While it's not all of Sony's fault, they have done little to apologize for their delays and arrogant statements. It's a bad trend that they've started, and the more they continue the more we'll be seeing article after article on Gamespot.....day after day about something else they've done to flaw the PS3's image.

I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of flaming cow responses, but hey that's expected. I can understand their crankiness b/c I know I'd hate to be in their shoes atm. Hopefully Sony will have some sort of eye-opener to the amount of distaste they've started among gaming consumers, and will get back to what they used to do best.
