and for the record, there were similar comments about the wii when it was released - how will motion control work for extended gameplay periods? people's wrists are bound to get tired. it won't have lasting appeal.

i disagree with the article.

eye strain may be a problem for very extended gameplay. some people on here, who play games for more than 3 hours at a time, may need to be concerned about that.

but 3D movies have been proven successfull for a while now. that shows us that eyestrain is not a serious issue for showings of big screen 3D movies that are 2-3 hours long. how will eyestrain be an issue for mass audiences beyond that timespan? not so sure. but 2-3 hours of gameplay at a time is more than enough for the casual gamer.

Well the 3ds will most likely have games as good looking as the psp games. Now my question is: why aren't people dissing this handheldfor having console type games like they did for the psp? I'm sure I'll love the damage control here, or sw can admit they have given the psp unnecesary hate.

fightninja162

winning strawman arguments seems to be the only way sony fans can get a W these days.

not really ps3 is wiping the floor with 360 worldwide and gamewise

PSP is amans handheld while ds is for toddlers with little hardcore games

sony is on a roll.

men lie, women lie, sony fans lie, but numbers don't.

numbers show that sony went from being the overwhelming console market leader last generation with the most dominant console in gaming history, to beingdead last this generation for hardware sales in both the console and handheld market this generation.

that's the largest L any company has tooken in gaming history.

Sony doesn't own Blu-Ray, so Microsoft won't have to set up any deal with Sony.R3FURBISHED

lol @ riding the subway with some sony 3D glasses on, looking like a complete tool while playing video games.

nintendo gets it right yet again. 3D without glasses is the ONLY way to go for handhelds.

You're predictions of how well a company is going to do, based on current evaluations, is no more accurate than the flip of a coin. So you know that Xbox 360 is releasing NATAL, but you can't determine whether it will be a flop or success. Same can be said for Sony, and their project MOVE. The past is a much better starting point for an evaluation of a companies sucess or loss. That is a business FACT.

Nyxathid_Horror

uhm, no its not.

CURRENT affairs, CURRENT technology that a company is working is what determines the company's future. that is a business fact.

so analysis of what a company CURRENTLY is working on is how to analyze for the future. thats how its done.basing future predictions on what the company did for OLD technology years in the past is a rediculous approach. making predictions is a risk either way, but choosing dwelling on past affairs over current affairs is just wrong!

You cannot evaluate an entire company on what it's currently working on. You have to take the past into account, just as much as the present. That's quite naive, and close-minded to think otherwise. Not to mention the fact that Sony's OLD technology is STILL outselling Microsofts current; you cannot deny facts. We're talking from a business perspective, and not current sales charts.

when it comes to predicting how a company will do in the future (several years in the future) - yes, technology that is currently being developed, that will be sold in the future IS what matters.

what that company did in the past got them to where they are today. but where they'll go from here - you really need to get a heads up on the direction they're choosing to go in, and then make an evaluation based on that. what worked in the past won't necessarily work in the future - the wii and PS3 are testaments to that fact.

You didn't see what I did there, as to be expected. Just because a company is currently doing well, doesn't mean it's going to stay on top tomorrow. That's not even business knowledge, just common sense...

Nyxathid_Horror

thanks captain obvious!

but really, if you get knowledge of what a company is currently working on/doing - that is the way to predict how it will do in the future. so your statement - "Predicting the future of a business based on current accomplishments is horribly erroneous" - is horribly erroneous!

You must be a time wizard... Can you also tell us if 2012 is the end of the world? That would greately increase my fun to work ratio...

On a serious note; no... You can't tell the future, and by the looks of the past, Sony has nothing to worry about when it comes to their market shares.
