What exactly makes you so sure that you won't join 'em?Does it make you sad? It does me any time I think about it. I have friends who are athiest and just are not going to change and it makes me sad to think they are going to hell and I never will get to see them again. I also dont really like it when people take pleasure in the hopes that people will go to hell. The thought always makes me a little sad.
BTW this is a follow up to that other thread

[QUOTE="JabbaDaHutt30"]I haven't seen the movie, but I know I can lick the protagonist!Overrated_HeroYes, but why would you want to? Slang for beating someone up. 4. Slang To punish with a beating; thrash. 5. Slang To get the better of; defeat: licked her weight problem.
[QUOTE="TheDawnofFlames"][QUOTE="mindstorm"]No. Aside from the fact that I believe Christianity to be true, I do not see how civilized society will last without any type of religion. Without religion morality has no standard other than preference. Without a basis for morality there is very little stopping people from acting corrupt and going against their preference. Indeed government and society does dictate many morals but without the influence of religion, even the government becomes more corrupt than it would otherwise (just look at many dictators for example). There always needs to be people shouting in the background "that's not a good idea!" Without religion, morality is just an opinion. If you think morality is indeed more than an opinion and claim to be a naturalist, change line your life up with your teachings or change your teachings.mindstormI disagree with that. You don't need religion to have morals. lol I agree. I'm just saying your morality without religion is nothing more than an opinion with no foundation. And being religious makes your morality absoulte?
[QUOTE="JabbaDaHutt30"][QUOTE="jasperrussell"] wouldn't that make them agnostic rather than athiest?jasperrussellEven religious folk are in doubt sometimes... so not necessarily. But agnosticism isn't a middleground between atheism and theism anyway. Agnostics are atheists. The one true god - wikipedia - thinks differently: "It is often put forth as a middle ground between theism and atheism." It is put forth - but it is done so incorrectly. You can either believe or not believe in something. Agnosticism is a state of knowledge; there is no middle ground between believing or not believing.
[QUOTE="JabbaDaHutt30"][QUOTE="jasperrussell"]soooooo..... back on topic. why should an athiest be scared of hell when they don't believe in it? Is that too simple? Have I completely missed TC's point?jasperrussellBecause they are in doubt? wouldn't that make them agnostic rather than athiest? Even religious folk are in doubt sometimes... so not necessarily. But agnosticism isn't a middle ground between atheism and theism anyway. Agnostics are atheists.
