Scared? Not like 'OMGWTFBBQ WAS THAT' scared (has probably happened before, I can't remember it though), but I've sure as heck been creeped out by games before.
The one I remember most is this one section in Max Payne, the second nightmare. You're walking along trails of blood with low-gravity and slow-motion, in pitch-blackness, suspended above a bottomless abyss. You hear your dead wife and baby sobbing in the background, and if you fall or go the wrong way, your baby lets out this chilling wail. That freaked me to the point where I had to kill the sound.
Revisiting the EGG facility in SMT: Digital Devil Saga 2 was another big one. The pitch-black first floors and minimal, creepy music foreshadowed the changes ahead. When you got to the dungeon proper, the bizzare, distorted scenery, the bits of people (living and dead) being sucked into the walls, babbling semi-coherently about how 'it' was consuming their minds, the the saddened roars from the beast you're trying to reach.....all pretty disturbing stuff.
System Shock 2 is one of the scariest games of any generation. I encourage anyone to find and play that game, if for anything else but just the atmosphere presented.TemplaerDude
Maybe I'm just desensitized, but much though the game was awesome, it didn't really freak me out much. The only thing that REALLY comes to mind is when you first enter the Engineering area, and The Many shows you a vision of inside its body. That made me shudder the first time. And it was a bit alarming to find out the fate of Dr. Polito.
Foxdie didn't kill Liquid... why would it kill Solid?

Actually, I'm pretty sure it did, right at the end of MGS1. Liquid was somehow 'reborn' though when Ocelot took one of the arms from the corpse and used it as his own. I'd guess due to his dad being able to communicate/interact with the dead and all. My opinion only, of course.
Not possible. Aside from gamers, some people who don't play video games automatically hate them all by principle. And even among gamers, not everyone will like everything. Simple fact.
That said, I haven't seen much hate for Rez, but that's probably because it's pretty obscure. It seems that the System Shock series is pretty highly regarded, too.
[QUOTE="byrofish"][QUOTE="walkerctranger"]i ask you. What game has ever had REALLY good voice acting?CocopuffsGM
Grim Fandango.
Nice call. Planescape: Torment had some good voice acting. (Had the man who does Homer and half the voices on The Simpsons, along with other famous voices)
I'd say add System Shock 2 to the list. The audio was a large part of what made the game immersive and chilling.
I usually wait a while after a game releases for reduced prices anyway, so it doesn't bother me in the slightest. If the game's half-decent, the developers will probably upgrade it or add new content.
And my PC won't randomly need to be replaced due to a horrible cooling system.
