FFVII Remake for the PS3 and maybe 360. You heard it here first. D0wnfall1

Screw FFVII. I want a next-gen remake of FFVI. That was, in my opinion, the best game in the series.

On a side note, I steadfastly believe that Kefka is one of the best villains I've seen in a game, and this is from someone who's played several thousand games over their life (yeah, I'm a geek. Shut up :P). There's something just endearing about the way he's not some generic overly cool badass, or someone trying to achieve a grand purpose, or someone with a terrible past that justifies their actions, but just some dude who wants power to blow s*** up for the sake of it.

Yes, I tried to be careful with my words. I knew the Panzer Dragoon series was good, but that was about it. Can you think of a single movie featuring dragons that was very successful, or that got good reviews? This is why caution should be taken with Lair.musicalmac

Yeah, you make a good point. There's been a lot of mediocre or just plain bad dragon-based entertainment around (Eragon movie and game most recently come to mind), but there's also the optimistic way of looking at things. This could possibly be one of the first big-name, high-selling dragon games. Of course, that could be seen as naive, but I'm going to take that risk here because Factor 5 have made some pretty excellent games in the past (I loved the Turrican series, and I think they did Rogue Squadron).

I still don't have much faith in Lair. Tell me one game or movie featuring dragons that has been hugely successful? I can't think of any that generated tons of success.musicalmac

The Panzer Dragoon series.

Panzer Dragoon:- GS unrated, but press average of 9.1 and user average of 8.7

Panzer Dragoon Saga:- GS 9.2, UA 9.4, PA 9.3

Panzer Dragoon Orta:- GS 9.0, UA 8.8, PA 9.0

True, other than that series, there haven't been any massively successful dragon-based games that come to mind, at least for me. But if you've watched the interview with the president of Factor 5, he gives credit to Panzer Dragoon, and says that it's one of their biggest inspirations. Pretty good source to develop ideas from, if you ask me.

I'm personally looking forward to this game the most on PS3 at the moment, I have a nagging feeling that I'll find HS unsatisfying, like I did GoW (not that it was a bad game or anything, I just found it a bit shallow for my tastes).

Well they should have thought of that before they released the dud in their series.DustAmulet

Ok, I can understand you want to use review scores as the basis for your list (was actually looking for frachises that matched that criteria, nothing yet), fair enough, but seriously, anything under a 9.0 a dud?

Diablo 2:- 8.5

MGS:- 8.5

LoZ TP:- 8.8

LoZ OoT (VC edition):- 8.9

Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind:- 8.7

And that's just a few random examples off the top of my head, I could add a MASSIVE amount to that list. Care to explain how these games were 'duds'? :?

What, AAA based on GS scores, Press Averages, User Averages, opinion?

If it IS purely on GS scores, then that's really not a good way to do this sort of thing. A GS review is made by ONE PERSON (albiet a professional, but still), whereas the Press/User averages are a collaborative opinion respresenting a (generally) more accurate description of a game's worth.

Of course, that statement itself is just my opinion, it's your thread in the end. I'd humbly suggest you try it my way though.

My computer takes 6 minutes to load MS Word 2000. My job pays me on average AU$250 a week, most of which is spent on fuel, phone credit, alcohol and the occasional PS2 game. I don't think I'll be running this game anytime soon. :(

The generation's barely started. Two of the main competitors only started 4 months ago. One of which only released its product to the third biggest gaming region a week ago.

IT'S. TOO. EARLY. TO. ANNOUNCE. VICTORY. FOR. ANY. SYSTEM. ARGH!

Depends. If they had good games, original or otherwise (I'd LOVE to see some of their old franchises revived properly, as well as continuing some of their current successes), I'd be there in an instant. Especially if they decided to make Sonic like the old days, BEFORE it became angsty, and it was just 'Robotnik (not Eggman. This is important.) is a bad dude who turns animals into robots. Jump on things and run fast.'

Seeing as they just announced the first Sonic/Mario game though, I don't think it's likely they'll try to strike out on their own again, at least not for a while. :(
