Everything you just said is completely absurd.
Consoles are still plug in and play. Having additional waiting times does not change that. You don't have to build the console, make sure parts are compatible, search for driver updates, configure your graphics control panel, adjust in game graphics settings, trouble shoot problems with various hardware pieces when they fail, etc.
This whole mentality that consoles are so complex these days is complete bullshit. Everyone has a damn smart phone these days, and that thing alone is far more complex then hooking up and playing a PS4.
Plug-n-play is just that. You plug in the console, put in the disc, and start playing. Buying a new console involves console firmware updates, game installations and updates.
That isn't plug-n-play. Hell, Steam games are more plug-n-play than console games now. You just install them, and Steam keeps them up to date so long as you have Steam open and connected to the internet.
But hey, I come from the days when consoles didn't even connect to the internet and PC gaming was an entirely different thing for gaming, giving gamers two entirely different, unique and fun platforms to game on. So call me old fashioned.
